Speaking to VG247, The Bourne Conspiracy developer High Moon has said that it’s itching to go on a sequel to the action game, and has plenty of ideas yet to realise for the digital version of the haywire super-spy.
“It hinges entirely on how well it’s received,” said lead designer Rory McGuire, when asked if we can expect a second game. “You guys are just starting to put reviews out in the UK and Europe, and there’s sales and a number of other factors, but we’d all love to work on a sequel here.”
He added: “There are so many areas where we can expand and take the character of Jason Bourne. So if we’re approached to do a sequel then yeah, you’ll see a lot of those great ideas come to fruition.”
While a sequel is yet to be decided, The Bourne Conspiracy is now released in both the US and Europe. The game draws together fighting, shooting and driving, disparate elements the developer locked together with the character of Jason Bourne himself.
“From a game design perspective you’re really talking about three to four separate games,” said Emmanuel Valdez, the title’s director. “We were really looking for something to tie it together, a through-line.
“Of course that’s just working with the property itself and creating a Jason Bourne game. By focusing our development around creating an experience to make players feel like Jason Bourne, we were at least able to create a coherent tie between all those features and make an entirely great action experience.”
Review tomorrow. Promise.

There’s a wholly exclusive dev diary after the break of High Moon staff talking about the soundtrack of The Bourne Conspiracy and how a mix of movie tunes and new content was used for the game.
There’s also stuff in there about punch combinations. Punching’s always good.
We’re going to announce the winners of of Bourne competition tomorrow, so there’s still time to enter if you fancy a chance at winning either a PS3 or 360 HMV special edition of the super-soldier scrapper.

Sierra’s very kindly stumped up six copies of the HMV special edition of The Bourne Conspiracy, each with a t-shirt, to give away to VG247 readers in celebration of the fact the High Moon Studios game is out today.
This edition includes a extra CD and DVD of Paul Oakenfold music, so it’s well definitive. We caned the game last night and had a jolly good time kicking the living shit out of millions of gruff men, thank you very much – review’s on its way – so you should probably want to win one. Why wouldn’t you?
All you have to do is debase yourself by answering the following question in the comments below.
Q: Bourne is the perfect weapon. He’s a tool of the state. A perfect tool. Why are you a perfect tool?
For clarity, each winner gets:
- A copy of the game
- A t-shirt
We’ll announce the lucky few next week. Don’t forget to tell us if you want the 360 or PS3 version. All the t-shirts are large. We don’t care where you live. We’ll pay for stamps. Do bear in mind this is the PAL version, though. Good luck!

European Nintendo fans who haven’t caved in and bought a Freeloader, or re-bought a copy of Twilight Princess simply so they can mess around with a save game file, can finally get their hands on Super Smash Bros. Brawl this week.
If that is not enough smashing for you, then how about Sierra’s The Bourne Conspiracy? There you can smash people’s faces in all day long. With radiators and other household objects if necessary. Smash smash smash. That’s out on 360 and PS3.
If you don’t like smashing things – like, if you’re weird or something – then we’re certain you’ll find something on the list below that might be worth a purchase. Which is good.

Oh. Dear. According to this Loot Ninja story, the PS3 version of The Bourne Conspiracy requires a 5Gb install.
This isn’t the best news in the world if you have a 40Gb PS3, obviously. Bit of music, Devil May Cry 4, Warhawk and Bourne and you’re kind of doomed.
Which is a shame.

Gamespy’s posted the first review of The Bourne Conspiracy, giving the Sierra action title 4/5. From the site:
Whether or not you follow the films and books is irrelevant to your potential enjoyment of The Bourne Conspiracy, because it so brilliantly communicates the story’s themes. The resulting combination of fierce fighting, fantastically integrated interactive cut-scenes and just plain awesome graphics punctuate the sad story of this amnesiac elite operative in a thoroughly entertaining package.
Sounds good to us. Full thing through the link. Bourne’s down for a June 27 launch for 360 and PS3.

Sierra announced this morning that The Bourne Conspiracy and Ghostbusters will both be on show at the MCM London Expo this weekend.
The showing, taking place at the London Excel Arena in Docklands, will see the appearance of actual Ghostbuster Ernie Hudson, who’ll be on hand for autographs and interviews.

Sierra Games dropped by to tell us that the demo of The Bourne Conspiracy is now available for download on the EU marketplace.
“I just wanted to send a reminder that The Bourne Conspiracy demo is now available to download on Xbox Live Marketplace and it will also be available on PlayStation Network from this Wednesday (22nd May),” said the brief.
It’s the same demo that was released a couple of weeks ago only now in a European format guise.
You can already read what we thought of the demo here. Consider yourselves reminded.

We were going to post this from Holland, but it didn’t work out that way due to arm pain and power-fatigue. Blerk wins, because he made reference to a “slot”. Send us your address, Blerk, and Mrs Pat will send you the t-shirt and disc. Watch this space for more amazing competitions.

It’s Friday and we’re shit-bored because the internet’s died, but we have to give you content or you stop reading the website. To that end, Sierra very kindly sent through a Bourne Conspiracy t-shirt this morning, and, being so very fucking nice, we thought we’d let you try to win it. It’s “medium” and “blue”. It says on the front of it that the game will allow you to “become the perfect weapon”. Sounds awesome. Answer the following question in the comments thread to this story. Best one wins it.
Q: Why do you want to become the perfect weapon/tool/instrument?
Pictures after the link. We’ll post it anywhere. We’re not proud.

There you have it. However, you can already read our demo impressions right here, you lucky devils you.

The PAL PlayStation Store has just updated with one notable exception: no Bourne Conspiracy demo.
The Bourne Conspiracy demo was made available to US Xbox Live users last Monday and a PAL demo for the Playstation Store was promised to arrive today as part of Sony’s Playstation Day update. Only it hasn’t.
In fact, it isn’t on the US Store either.
However, to dull the pain, you can read our Bourne demo impressions here.

No-one was excited as we were when Major Nelson announced that the Bourne Conspiracy Demo was up on the US Marketplace.
We’re big fans of the Bourne films, and with Matt Tieger saying at last month’s Sierra Spring Break that you will “become Bourne” we had to find out as soon as possible if that statement was to hold water.
Read our full impressions of the demo after the link.

According to the Major, Vivendi’s Bourne Conspiracy demo is now available on Xbox Live in America. The demo will be available in Europe “next week”, according to that post, which we’re taking as confirmation of a May 14 release.
According to this post on the EU PlayStation boards, the PS3 version will release this week, on May 8.
Fri, May 02, 2008 | 19:51 BST
According to the Official Playstation Boards, the PSN demo of The Bourne Conspiracy will now be arriving next week on May 8.
This is at odds with what we were told last week. First, Sierra said that the Bourne 360 demo would be available on May 22, then the company confirmed that actually, the 360 demo would be out on May 19, with the PSN taster close behind on the May 22. Now this.
Colour us very confused indeed. We’ll see if we can get the absolute official word after weekend.

CVG’s got it. As ever, it shows Bourne knocking the shit out of everything in his way, and that’s fine. It’s out on June 27 for both 360 and PS3.

Sierra Spring Break 08: Damon not in Bourne game due to refusal to make more films, but he may return
Speaking to videogaming247 at the Sierra Spring Break 08 in Mallorca last week, Highmoon Studios’ Matt Tieger explained that Matt Damon’s omission from The Bourne Conspiracy is due to him initially saying no to more Bourne films.
“We did talk to Matt Damon early in the process when we were developing this game,” said Tieger.
“[Damon] was doing his press tours from Ultimatum at the time and he actually said he wasn’t going to do any more Bourne movies, which kind of put us in a bind because if we were going to commit to a franchise and he was going to bow out and they were going to do another movie without him, then we would have Matt Damon as Jason Bourne and they would have hired someone else.
“Who knows? In future games we could put him back in. I can’t talk much about sequel plans right now but we’re not going to rule it out.
“When the game comes out he’s going to love it so much that he’ll want to be in it, I hope,” Tieger added.
We want Matt Damon.
The Bourne Conspiracy looked great at the event, and will be out on June 24 for 360 and PS3.
