Sonic Dash has been announced for mobile platforms by Sega. It’s rumoured to be their take on the Temple Run franchise, just like the rather brilliant Sonic Jump was a take on Doodle Jump.

Disney France PR representative Cecile Fouques has tweeted a February 27 release date for Temple Run: Oz The Great And Powerful, as noted by Superannuation. The sleuth also turned up mention of it on a tester’s Facebook page. Licensed tie-ins and re-skins are quite common for popular mobile and social games, with Angry Birds doing Star Wars, for example.

The Android version of Imangi Studios Temple Run has been downloaded more than 10 million times since it launched three weeks ago. The game was released on iOS last year and has since been downloaded over 36 million times on the format.

App Store flavour du jour Temple Run has quadrupled its revenue since going free to play, developer Imangi revealed to Gamasutra. The 99 cent app hit the top of the charts on release but then stymied, so Imangi took it free to play in September, one month after launch. Temple Run has now been downloaded over 20 million times, is totting up more at a rate of 500,000 per day, and has 7 million daily average users. The game is now in top spot on the charts once more, with revenue and users growing daily.
