According to Siliconera, the newly-announced console version of Tekken Tag Tournament 2 will feature content not found in the arcade version, as well as “comprehensively reworked” online play in response to complaints about previous games’ netcode. It’s due some time next year.

Tekken Tag Tournament 2 has been announced for a release in 2012. What for, we actually kinda don’t know, as the video doesn’t actually say. We assume it’s for consoles, though: we were told an announcement on TTK2 was coming this week. Still, here we go. Video’s after the break.

Namco Bandai is bringing Tekken Tag Tournament to five locations across the US – Next Level Arcade in New York; Round One Entertainment in City of Industry, California; Super Arcade in Walnut, California; Arcade UFO in Austin, Texas; and Fun Works in Honolulu. The placements are being described as a “field test”, but there’s no word of dates yet.

The Arcade version of Tekken Tag Tournament 2 will begin rolling out in Japan on September 14, Namco Bandai’s announced in the country this morning. In terms of an international release, nothing has been finalised but it is due for later in the month or beyond. And that’s all she wrote. A PS3 version is coming at some point next year.

Just over an hour’s worth of footage was captured from Tekken Tag Tournament 2 last night from EVO. There’s too much there to describe it, but it’s there anyways after the break. It’s out in arcades this autumn, and will be coming to PS3 next year.

Tekken’s not a series that’s generally know for its subtlety – what with all its tiger-headed wrestlers and dinosaur people – but a new Tekken Tag Tournament 2 video released by series producer Katsuhiro Harada paints the series in a different light.

Well, ok, not really, but there’s no sound whatsoever. He shot the thing on his cell phone, you see, so it’s not exactly the next Dead Island.
