Tekken 6 content will include just as much as console versions

tekken64

Tekken 6 on PSP will have everything the console versions have, according to Namco Bandai public relations manager, Arne Cual-Pedroso.

“Pretty much everything in the console version will be in the PSP,” the rep told Siliconera, and that includes all the downloadable content.

No mention of just how much DLC gamers can expect was mentioned, but if Namco’s past is any indication, expect loads.

Thanks, Joystiq.

Namco Bandai and Penny Arcade announce webcomic for Tekken 6

tekken6comic

Namco Bandai and Penny Arcade are teaming up to bring you a new webcomic based on Tekken 6.

The limited series is a six-parter focusing on the mysterious past of Roger who was created using Kangaroo DNA.

At least we assume it’s Roger because that’s how his creation was explained in Tekken 2. Who knows where the guys at Penny Arcade will take this.

Game’s out October 27 in the US for PS3 and Xbxox 360.

Full press release after the break.

Tekken director says unlockables are outdated and no longer useful

tekken6

Unlockable characters in fighting games are sooo yesterday, according to Tekken director Katsuhiro Harada.

During a Namco Bandai event this week, Harada stated that originally unlockables were created to extend the life of coin-operated arcade machines.

“Why we locked the characters originally was that in the arcades, it was kind of to extend the life of the game by gradually unlocking characters,” Harada told Videogamer. “Also with the home versions as well, because you can rent games or whatever, it was to protect us against that.

“That’s kind of outdated now though, especially with online play. If we were to have locked characters it would irritate a lot of people, to be playing against others online and to not have all the characters available.

“So I think it’s no longer useful.”

Tekken 6 will feature 40 fighters available right from the start when it releases October 27.

Tekken 6 to empty wallets with £150 arcade stick bundle

tekken10

No one ever said becoming King of the Iron Fist would be easy. On top of parting with copious amounts of blood, sweat, and tears, Namco Bandai’s now asking fans to bid farewell to £150.

For that price, you’ll nab a copy of Tekken 6, an art book, and a Hori Tekken arcade stick. And not just any Hori Tekken arcade stick, either — according to Namco Bandai, this thing’s “the best peripheral for any console.” Your hill of colorful plastic objects has a new king.

Or, if sleeping on park benches isn’t really your thing, there’s also the £70 collector’s edition. It comes with a copy of Tekken 6 and a hoodie designed by the game’s art team. Not quite an arcade stick, sure, but it’s still probably the best hoodie designed by Tekken 6′s art team. Probably.

So, which Tekken 6 SKU are you buying?

Thanks, CVG.

The rest of it will be, though. It’s out October 27 in the US.

Speaking during the same earnings call, he stated that BioShock 2 and Tekken 6 would arrive in October, while Assassin’s Creed 2 and Modern Warfare 2 are expected in November along with “a couple of Nintendo titles coming that have not been announced.”

Namco: Tekken 6 will release for PSP alongside console versions

tekken6

Namco has confirmed to IGN that Tekken 6 will hit the PSP this autumn.

The game is to be released alongside the PS3 and Xbox 360 version and includes additional stages, content, items, and multiplayer featuring both original and fan favorite characters and a “Ghost” Infrastructure mode. This mode allows players to upload their character data and compare it with data complied by others.

“With a growing roster of fighters, each equipped with their own deadly techniques, martial art moves, and attack combinations, Tekken 6 will be the best ‘King of Iron Fist Tournament’ yet,” said a Manco rep.

“Adding to the already rich gaming experience, a deeper character customization feature will only enhance the incredible fighting intensity as players go mano-y-mano.”

Sounds lovely.
