Company of Heroes 2 pre-purchase customers on Steam have collectively unlocked the first tier of rewards. Early bird customers can now doll up their Team Fortress 2 characters with military insignia and head gear, but there’s another tier waiting to be unlocked once enough people pre-purchase the game, and it’s something rather neat indeed.

Team Fortress 2 map, Kong King, has been detailed by Valve. It’s the King of the Hill map which will be released for everyone who plays the game, regardless of whether they pre-ordered Sleeping Dogs through Steam or not. It’s the first time a city-themed map has been added to the game, and it was created in collaboration with Sleeping Dogs and community member Valentin Levillain. Sleeping Dogs is out August 14 on PC, PS3, and Xbox 360.

Valve is running one of its famous cross-promotions for United Front Games’ Hong Kong action epic, Sleeping Dogs. Pre-ordering the open-world action fest on Steam (at 10% off, no less) before August 14 will net you eight free items, including one which reverses enemy building construction. Oh, I know some veterans whose eyebrows just hit the ceiling over that. Sleeping Dogs arrives in mid-August on PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

Hero Academy, an iOS favorite, will release on Steam August 8, Robot Entertainment has announced. It will include an exclusive Team Fortress 2, and it contains cross-platform play with owners of the iOS version. A price hasn’t been set.

Updates to Team Fortress 2, Day of Defeat: Source and Half-Life 2: Deathmatch have all been released. The updates will be applied automatically when your Steam client is restarted. Get the notes here. “Pyroland” has been added, which lets the game’s flame-based mentalist see everything burning in pretty rainbow colours. It’s 400Mb. Fetch.

After much speculation, the collaboration between Valve and Adult Swim has been revealed as a Robot Chicken themed hat for use in Team Fortress 2, although more content is said to be in the pipeline.
