Here’s a little blip we missed from today’s Tales of Graces f release date announcement; on the PlayStation Blog Tales series producer Hideo Baba said we can expect “a Tales of filled year” and that he has “a lot of surprise announcements lined up”. The next announced western release for the series is Tales of Xillia, which already has a sequel in Japan.

Namco Bandai has announced that its Tales franchise, a long-running series of RPGs, has shipped over 15 million units. The franchise launched in 1995 with Tales of Phantasia on SNES, and its most recent entry is Tales of Xillia 2, which Gematsu reports has moved 480,000 units since releasing in Japan on November 1. The next western release is Tales of Xillia, due on PlayStation 3 some time in 2013.

A plethora of new screens of Namco Bandai’s PS3-exclusive Tales of Xillia 2 show off sharply-dressed ladies and gentlemen kicking seven bells out of all manner of nasties. Andriasang has more than three dozen screens for your eyes to drink-in, amongst them is this chap who puts me in mind of a young Jaeger from Valkyria Chronicles.

Tales of Xillia 2 launches exclusively on PS3 in September in Japan and in 2013 for Europe and North America.

All Games Beta has a Famitsu scan showing some artwork for the next Tales game. It’s a new “mothership” release which asks you if you’d be willing to smash the world for a girl. Who wouldn’t. Namco Bandai’s Tales franchise spans 14 core releases, plus about 20 assorted spin-offs and remakes as well as cross-media dealios, but is only patchily localised, so cross your fingers.

We waited in vain to see Tales of Innocence outside Japan, but maybe Vita remake Tales of Innocence R has a better chance. Namco Bandai has released three new drool-worthy trailers of the upcoming RPG, which you can sigh over in frustrated longing through the break.

Die-hard fans of Namco’s Tales RPG franchise, currently working on a translation patch for 2009′s Tales of Graces, have said they’re now starting to convert the PS3 version of Tales of Vesperia into English.

Scrawlfx has scanned an unnamed Japanese magazine which is said to reveal an as of yet untitled “Tales” game for PS3.

The new game will apparently “take advantage of the system’s power”. The full reveal will appear in what has been transcribed as “X day in July”.

Sounds dodgy to us.
