Space Invaders creator gets gangsta
Taito, the now Square Enix owned maker of Space Invaders, has just launched Gangster Connection in Japan. The game is a free-to-play simulation game that involves placing buildings strategically with players taking the role of a mob boss.
According to Siliconera the aim is to gain control of Sunshine City and to spread your influence, battling rival gangs to do so. Missions in the game are chosen by spinning a bullet chamber.

Taito releases arcade shooter Rayforce on iPhone and iPod Touch
Taito has released its 1993 arcade shooter Rayforce on iPhone and iPod Touch with Game Center support, touch screen controls, auto fire mechanics, and the ability to target ships with lock on lasers by pressing manual. The game also contains two screen options: the original aspect ratio and full screen mode. Rayforce will cost you $12 in the US. A video for the game is posted below. Thanks, Siliconera.

Square Enix reveal the Invadercade
Square Enix have revealed that they are to release an arcade-style cabinet for use with the iPad and iPad 2 called the Invadercade.

Taito considering legal action over misuse of Space Invaders at GC08
Taito has announced that it is considering legal action as the ‘Invaders!’ installation by Douglas Edric Stanley at Games Convention, was “produced entirely without TAITO’s knowledge and that the use of the world-famous Space Invaders content was wholly unauthorized.”
From the release:
TAITO is seriously considering all available options-including legal actions against the infringer and, if necessary, the Games Convention exhibitor involved-in order to end this unauthorized and impermissible misuse of the Space Invaders content and to protect TAITO’s intellectual properties.
