Surviarium developer Vostok Games has opened alpha registration for its post-apocalyptic sandbox survival game. The ex-S.T.A.L.K.E.R devs have laid out the process in a new blog post, and have shed light on what you can expect.

Survarium, the free-to-play MMOFPS from former Stalker developers Vostok Games, will go into beta at the end of the year. The firm noted on its website it plans to “open beta game access to a larger number of players,” and it will likely be an open beta. In the case of a “huge influx of new players,” the developers said it could “temporarily hold up the admission of new players to ensure increased server capacities.” You can view the development timeline here. An alpha test containing a working PvP mode, four game maps, two factions, and an in-game system of tasks, is slated for Q2 2013.

S.T.A.L.K.E.R 2 development collapsed unexpectedly in 2011 and it led to the formation of Vostok Games, developers of incoming MMOFPS Survarium. Team member Oleg Yavorsky has discussed with VG247 the nature of the game’s cancellation and the demise of developer GSC Game World, calling it a ‘forced move’. He also revealed that the team tried to save the S.T.A.L.K.E.R IP by making a free-to-play spin-off, but explained that an agreement couldn’t be reached. Get the full scoop below.

Survarium has a new developer diary available from Vostok Games. The third in a series, the video discusses the free-to-play, multiplayer shooter, and the scavenger faction. Vostok Games has released the second developer diary for Survarium, its free-to-play, multiplayer title, which highlights the project’s development progress. Posted below, the dev diary also covers game components, the storyline, atmosphere, the game’s character and planned modes.
