Super Meat Boy is on sale through Steam as part of the service’s Mid-week Madness Sale. From now until November 8 you can pick the game up for 80% off ($2.99). The Mac version has also been updated, and users can download it through Steam. If you are a Linux user, the game is now available for your OS as well through the service. Via Polygon.

Super Meat Boy developer Tommy Refenes has published a thought-provoking blog post on the impact of DRM as an effective measure against piracy. He argued that the cost going into DRM does little to offset losses suffered by piracy, and that the controversial security measure makes people more likely to pirate a game.

Team Meat has started work on the touchscreen version of Super Meat Boy, promising it’ll look and play “a lot different” than the standard Super Meat Boy that came out two years ago.

Team Meat’s confirmed on Twitter that Super Meat Boy has sold 1 million units since it first launched 18 months ago. The duo said in a tweet: “Fun Fact: Super Meat Boy past the million sales mark last month! PLATINUM BABY.” Super awesome. The hard as nails platformer launched on Xbox Live Arcade and PC in October 2010.

The bundle, which will also contain the deluxe soundtrack to SMB and OSTs to Braid, Bit Trip Beat, Bit Trip Runner and Machinarium, will set you back £17.89/$24.99.

Having said that Team Meat was “taken advantage of” by Microsoft in the run-up to the launch of Super Meat Boy, developer Edmund McMillen has confirmed that, after a spate of hugging and kissing between the two parties, the ultra-hard platformer is about to be re-pimped on XBLA.
