First Super Mario 3D Land review pulls an eight from EDGE
EDGE has gone live with the first review of Super Mario 3D Land, the first core Mario title for the 3DS, awarding it eight out of ten.
The notoriously critical mag praised the game’s use of “some of the best, most subtle use of 3D” the console has seen so far, and called it “fresher than any handheld Mario in years”. It was less impressed with the grab-bag power up gameplay.
Super Mario 3D Land launches in November, exclusively for 3DS.
Thanks, CVG.

Super Mario 3D Land uses StreetPass, P-Winged Assist Blocks
Display boxes for Super Mario 3D Land, which were set out on Japanese store shelves today, show that the game includes StreetPass and Super Guide features. The former will allow those passing by each other to trade in-game items and the P-Winged Assist Blocks will help players having a tough time in the game. P-Wing items were first implemented in Super Mario Bros 3 on NES, and gave players the ability fly continuously across a level they found a trifle hard.
Pre-orders for the game have started in Japan, and the game releases on November 3. North America gets it on November 13. Thanks, Nintendo World Report.
