Killer is Dead director Goichi Suda is working on a side-scrolling game based on Akira creator Katsuhiro Otomo’s upcoming film, Short Peace, for PS3. The game is to be published by Namco Bandai. The film, which lands in theaters this month in Japan is made up of four short stories with the aforementioned Longest Day considered the fifth short story but is instead a video game. Suda will be working with Tokyo Jungle director Yohei Kataoka on it. More through Siliconera.

Grasshopper Manufacture CEO Goichi Suda has said he’s “always up to the idea” of creating another No More Heroes game. Speaking with Joystiq, Suda 51 said: “Travis [Touchdown] is one of the characters I’m really fond of, that means a lot to me. So if there was the opportunity to create another sequel then yeah, I’m always up to the idea.” Until then, fans can appease themselves with Killer is Dead on PS3 and Xbox 360 in August.

Killer is Dead has received a ‘new’ trailer from publisher Deep Silver. Developed by Suda 51′s Grasshoper Manufacture, the game follows assassin Mondo Zappa as he carves up goons with his katana.

Deep Silver will publish Grasshopper Manufacture’s Killer Is Dead in Europe, according to an announcement from the firm. The Suda 51 title, now owned by Japanese publisher GungHo and XSEED will be published the title in North America it has been confirmed. Killer is Dead launches this summer on PS3 and Xbox 360. Killer is Dead seems like it’s shaping up to be a Suda 51 fan’s dream. Swords, assassins, Yakuza, tigers, all sorts of weird shit. The Grasshopper Manufacture founder has been talking about the game in some detail among the pages of this week’s Famitsu. It sounds insane.

Suda 51′s Killer is Dead may be heading westward courtesy of XSEED if domain registrations dug by Superannuation are any indication. The domains: killerisdead-game as well as killandlove.com and loveandkill.com were all registered by the publisher. A confirmation for the west has yet to be announced, but, the game is slated for a release in Japan this summer on PS3 and Xbox 360. We’ll send a mail and ask. Killer is Dead was last spring, and featured in the latest issue of Famitsu.
