Capcom has ponied up on a promised Mamoru Oshii-directed live-action short promoting Steel Battalion: Heavy Armor. Subtitled Gosha, the film focuses on a pilot of the same name and was filmed in Poland. Catch the short and Oshii’s introduction through the break, courtesy of Machinima. The Kinect exclusive title releases in the US on June 19 and trickles to other territories later in the week.

Capcom has released a co-op trailer for Steel Battalion: Heavy Armor which was shown during Captivate 2012. The firm also released a new set of screenshots and story trailer, which are below as well. Game’s out in the US on June 19 on Xbox 360 and is Kinect and four-player co-op enabled.

Capcom’s announced a collector’s edition for Steeel Battalion: Heavy Armor. The CE features a copy of the Kinect-based game, art book, a themed jacked – we seen one of the devs wearing it whilst demoing it at gamescom last year – leg bag and a cap the shape of a helmet. It’s yours for ¥35,000 from Capcom’s eshop in Japan.

Capcom’s released a fresh Japanese trailer for Steel Battalion: Heavy Armour, showing off a desert level for the first time. All that had been shown previously was the landing level at gamescom and Tokyo Game Show. There are glimpses of other levels throughout the video, as well as an explanation of how the controls work in the hybrid controller-Kinect mech title.

When the original Steel Battalion launched for Xbox, back in 2002, it came with a comically over-sized, purpose-built controller which is now something of a collector’s piece. Nearly ten years later, the game has taken a more minimal approach, in a Kinect-enabled reboot that does away with controllers completely.

From Software has said players will not be limited to just using Kinect in Steel Battalion: Heavy Armor, they will also use the standard controller as well. However, the implementation of Kinect has added some cool features to the control scheme.
