Force Unleashed PC requires “3D Hardware Accelerator Card”
Lucas released the minimum system specs for the PC version of The Force Unleashed tonight, bringing the shock news that the game requires a graphics card to be playable.

GTA IV, Left 4 Dead, more added to US Platinum Hits
Microsoft’s added Grand Theft Auto IV and Left 4 Dead to its Platinum Hits range in the US.
Street Fighter 4, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed and Saints Row 2 have also been included in the line-up meaning you should now be able to pick them up for around $20.
No news on any similar moves for Europe.

Sony talks Ultimate Sith Edition with LucasArts

If the recent addition of PSN Trophies to Star Wars: The Force Unleashed and news of the Ultimate Sith Edition wasn’t enough to get you pumped, Sony has done one better.
Over on the US PS Blog, Sony sat down with the game’s assistant production manager, Cameron Suey, who showed off the new Ultimate Sith Edition which includes some “What if?” levels onto the original game.

Force Unleashed DLC out now
The Force Unleashed got a decent bit of DLC today, with a whole new level added.
The content carries the game’s plot past its normal end, and sends the Secret Apprectice to Tatooine to kill Obi-Wan. Hot stuff.

Star Wars: The Force Unleashed gets DLC love this fall

Lucasarts has sent over a lovely press release stating that Star Wars: The Force Unleashed will get some downloadable content in the fall for PS3 and Xbox 360.
The Tatooine mission continues at the end of The Force Unleashed and re-imagines the Star Wars Saga as if the Secret Apprentice had killed Darth Vader and taken his place at the Emperor’s side, becoming the most powerful Sith Lord in the universe.
It picks up as the Emperor sends his new apprentice to the planet Tatooine to dispatch Obi-Wan Kenobi.
During their hunt, players will explore the depths of Jabba the Hutt’s palace and encounter bounty hunter Boba Fett.

Force Unleashed Jedi Temple DLC is deal of the Week

If you’ve still got a copy of Force Unleashed knocking about that you didn’t get the Jedi Temple Mission Pack DLC for way back when, then you’re in luck, as the Major reveals that it’s this week’s Deal of the Week.
In real numbers that means it’s 50 percent cheaper than it was yesterday i.e. 400 MS Points instead of 800. Great.

LucasArts and ActiBlizz renew publishing deal

LucasArts has renewed its publishing and distribution contract with Activision Blizzard for releases in Australia, Europe and South-East Asia.
The firms have Star Wars: The Force Unleashed to thank for the renewal, due to the title selling 5.7 million units worldwide, thus becoming the bestselling Star Wars game of all time
“This agreement with Activision reflects LucasArts’ commitment to the international markets and we look forward to bringing the best products to our consumers worldwide,” said LucasArts’ Mary Bihr.
“We made the decision based upon Activision’s proven track record in managing strong brands and our long standing relationship which has produced tremendous results as games such as LEGO Indiana Jones and Star Wars: The Force Unleashed have risen to the top of sales charts globally.”
Indiana Jones and the Staff of Kings will be the next joint release for the publishers, and it is expected to ship in June.

The Force Unleashed fasted selling Star Wars game ever

Guess what, young padawans? The Force Unleashed sold over 5.7 million copies worldwide across all platforms since its September release, making it the fastest selling Star Wars title in the franchise’s history.
It hit the 1.5 million mark worldwide in its first week, and all signs point to the fact that it’s a very popular game.

Force Unleashed takes game writing award

Star Wars: The Force Unleashed has won the Writers Guild of America award for videogame writing.
Also nominated for the gong were Red Alert 3, Fallout 3 and Tomb Raider: Underworld.

Time does top 10 games of 2008, GTA IV is top
Time Magazine has published its top ten video games of the year, with GTA IV at number one.
“It’s a grade-A shoot-’em-up that doubles as an interactive novel and triples as a sly critique of American consumer culture,” says the piece.
Jonathon Blow’s platformer Braid comes in at number two, while LittleBigPlanet takes third.

Force Unleashed gets new level and clothes as DLC
Star Wars: The Force Unleashed got a new level via Live and PSN today, an “entirely new mission set in the Jedi Temple on the planet Coruscant.”
Nine new costumes come with it.
Another pack’s been released, in addition, including another ten costumes.

New campaign and characters coming to Force Unleashed
According to this Kotaku story, LucasArts is planning to release new campaign content and fresh characters for The Force Unleashed.
Force Unleashed executive producer Haden Blackman told the site that four new characters and a new single-player campaign set inside the game’s Jedi temple are to be released for the 360 and PS3 versions of the game as DLC.
In addition, a pack containing new costumes and character models for the existing game is to be released next month.

Force Unleashed sells 1.5 million in five days
LucasArts announced last night that The Force Unleashed has moved more than 1.5 million copies worldwide since it launched last weekend.
Having been at retail for only five days, the figure is a record for the publisher.
“The record-setting sales of Star Wars: The Force Unleashed shows the undiminished power of Star Wars and its popularity across all media types, including video games,” said LucasArts president Darrell Rodriguez.
“We’re blown away by the response.”

Play The Force Unleashed on a mobile phone, on the internet
PocketGamer’s posted what is apparently the eexclusive mobile demo of The Force Unleashed, allowing you to play the game on a replica mobile phone on the internet.
It’s all about pressing buttons in the right order to “weave” the Force. Just cost us five minutes. Take a look. It’s Friday, after all.

Force Unleashed 360 demo hits 1 million downloads in record time
LucasArts has claimed a “first to 1 million” record for the 360 demo of The Force Unleashed, hitting the milestone in eight days.
We’re assuming the game it’s beaten is Too Human.
The new Star Wars game’s out on September 16 in the US and September 19 in Europe.

According to this RPS story, Star Wars: The Force Unleashed is on the way to PC.
The news comes from the NVISION 08 conference, and more specifically from the COO of Pixelux Entertainment, the company behind the game’s physics.

Star Wars: TFU – First reviews sting, OTR indications not looking good
The first magazine reviews are in for Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, and it’s all looking a bit painful so far.
According to Metacritic the four reviews so far have left an average of 68 percent. Here’s who’s scored it:
- OXM – 75
- GamePro – 7
- gamesTM – 7
- EGM – 56
Some of the stuff we’ve been told off the record about TFU this week really isn’t encouraging. And we’ll leave it at that.
Game’s out on September 19.
