Some chap – “Borman18” – has posted a full hour’s worth of Battlefront III gameplay on YouTube, as you can see below. Free Radical was working on this before the studio was closed in 2009 and bought by Crytek. There’s a great deal of content in this movie. Read it and weep. Or watch it and weep. Or just weep, OK?

Someone’s posted up a fresh video of gameplay from Free Radical’s Star Wars: Battlefront III. It’s shot off-screen from a 2008 build. Free Radical went bust over Christmas 2008 and was eventually picked up by Crytek.
Watch it below.

Looks as though Pandemic hasn’t got Battlefront III after all. Well, if it has, it’s keeping it hidden somewhere.
“As of right now I can say Battlefront III is not currently at Pandemic,” said an admin on the official Pandemic forums.
“While I know the title seems to be up in the air from all the buzz around the web… LucasArts will be the only one knowing where the title is at right now.”
We just went back to our original source on this. Apparently, Pandemic is working on the “spiritual successor” to Battlefront II, but with a different IP. Not Star Wars. So now you know.

IGN’s yanked footage of Star Wars Battlefront III due to LucasArts pressure.
The publisher told the site the movie of Free Radical’s project – confirmed as real by insiders – was “the intellectual property of Lucasfilm” and had “been posted without permission.”
It looks as though the Kotaku footage we posted last week has also been pulled.
The off-screen video was taken from an alpha meeting at Free Radical last year.

According to UK development sources, Rebellion proposed to LucasArts that its PlayStation 2 version of Star Wars Battlefront III could form the basis for both 360 and PS3 versions of the game.
Rebellion was rumoured to be the title’s new home at the time, although Free Radical is thought to have lost the game months before hitting serious trouble.
“Rebellion was actually working on the PS2 version,” a source told us today.
“The plan was to take the PS2 game and use it as a basis for 360 and PS3 versions, as opposed to using the Free Radical tech.”
Pandemic is now being solidly touted as Battlefront III’s final landing pad. The US developer created the first two versions before being bought by EA.
The assumption now is that EA will publish the game.
It’s unknown if Rebellion is still working on the PS2 version.
Battlefront III has never been announced, but was widely known to be in the works at Free Radical. Footage of the project – verified as genuine by insiders – has leaked since Free Rad sailed into troubled waters.
EA offered a “no comment” on Battlefront’s return to Pandemic.
Neither LucasArts or Rebellion had responded to requests for comment at the time of publication.

The retailer was listing the game for Wii, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, DS, PSP and PlayStation 2, according to Kotaku, for a March 2009 release.
The game’s in development at Free Radical, apparently. E3 reveal, innit.
