Star Wars 1313, the game shelved by Disney due to the closure of LucasArts studio, would have had players starring as none other than bounty hunter Boba Fett, according to a report on Kotaku which was handed some concept art from the project. According to the report, Fett being the star of the game was an order handed down to developers last May by George Lucas himself. While the future of the game looks grim at present, a representative stated yesterday that other development studios will now be able to license the Star Wars IP, and this includes the possible take over of development on 1313 as well as Star Wars: First Assault.

Disney is closing LucasArts development studio, laying off a reported 150 staffers and according to a representative for the firm, development on Star Wars 1313 along with Star Wars: First Assault is in limbo.

Yesterday, industry whispers indicated that Star Wars 1313 had been nudged onto the backburner by Disney’s acquisition of Lucasfilm. Apparently this isn’t the case after all, according to a representative from LucasArts .

Star War 1313 screenshots have popped up on Sony Germany’s Facebook page, albeit older shots, it indicates that PS3 will be one of the systems the shooter is release on. Announced by Lucasarts pre-show at E3 2012, platforms other than PC were never confirmed, leading the public to wonder if it was a this-gen or next-gen console release. A Lucasarts representative has said the listing is “not accurate” and that it has no announcements to make regarding the game at this time. So, make of this what you will.

Star Wars 1313 has a new video available, which is a short documentary called Descent to the Underworld. Along with providing a bit of new information on the title, the video also shows off some rather nice artwork depicting the criminal underworld of Level 1313, deep below the surface of Coruscant. In the game, players will step into the shoes of a bounty hunter – instead of a Jedi this time – and while LucasArts has yet to announce platforms or release window for Star Wars 1313, some suspect it may be an early next-generation console release.
