Former Black Rock game director Nick Baynes has revealed to EDGE that the studio tried to “scale back” their AAA racing game Split Second to better fit Disney’s shift in focus away from AAA titles.

Disney has released a new video for Split/Second showcasing its “fantastic graphics and explosive gameplay.”

It reminds us a bit of a car commercial, until the lovely auto is smashed by a building.

Hopefully, you’ll be quick enough to outrun stuff like that once the game is released early next year for PC, 360 and PS3.

Black Rock Studios has released the first proper trailer for racing game Split/Second.

More than just street racing, the game takes place before a televised audience. Which watches as you cause destructive events on the track in an effort to stop your competitors.

According to this IGN report, Black Rock’s soon-to-be-revealed racer is titled Split Second.

It’s PC, PS3 and 360, apparently.

The game was teased in the middle of February, and will be shown next week.
