GamersGate offerings surpass 1,000 titles
GamersGate has announced that over 1,000 different titles appear in its online distribution library, including Braid.
“Braid not only challenges traditional game design, it challenges the very fabric of the industry by achieving critical success as a download only title,” said GamersGate CEO Theodore Bergquist.
“Our goal is to enable market access for small development companies in order to foster innovation in the industry, and having Braid as our 1000th title is a symbol of our success.”
Originally part of Paradox Interactive, the service became independent of the publisher by way of budgets, goals and management – yet still maintains close ties.
The site just recently added X3: Gold, Happy Tree Friends False Alarm, Fishdom H2O: Hidden Odyssey, Modern Warrior Special Tactics, and is currently running a 75 percent-off special on Space Siege.

Space Siege demo released
Well, bugger us and call us Henry. Sega’s released a Space Siege demo, following a bizarre notification from Nvidia that it could happen this week.
Get it from GamersHell. It’s just under 1Gb in total, and there doesn’t appear to be any indication of what it actually contains. You’ll just have to play it to find out.

Taylor confirms Dungeon Siege 3, drops parties
Eurogamer.de’s dropped a nice exclusive this morning, carrying a quote from Chris Taylor in which he both confirms Dungeon Siege 3 and says the game will be based on a single character instead of a party.
“There will be some things that are very much like the original Dungeon Siege [games] but only some things will be simplified,” Taylor told the site. “I am done with multi-character parties. I really think that its all going to be about a single hero. Its just too much to manage. I want a single hero to get all the focus.”
The move is likely to be in line with the development of upcoming Gas Powered Games spin-off Space Siege, which centres on a single character instead of a group.
More through the link. Assuming you can read German, obviously. There are no details in there about date, etc.

Sega releases Space Siege gameplay trailer
Sega has released a trailer for Gas Power Games-developer action-RPG, Space Siege.
Scheduled for release this autumn for PC, the game takes place in the confines of the Armstrong, a colonization ship carrying some of the last remnants of human civilization after a devastating attack on earth from an unknown alien race.
Players will take the role of Seth Walker, a cybernetics engineer thrust into a struggle to save humanity from extermination. Sounds hot.
Head over to Gamershell to download the trailer.

GDC: “Very high likelihood” of Demigod on consoles, says Taylor
Gas Powered Games’ Chris Taylor has said that team-based strategy PC title Demigod is likely to end up on consoles after it releases later this year.
“That is actually up in the air,” said Taylor with regards to Demigod’s PC exclusivity. “You could easily see that on the console. That’s got a very high likelihood of going to console.”
He also backed up comments made by Sega at CES that upcoming PC action-RPG Space Siege is also in discussions for console versions, refusing to rule out versions other than the PC game.
“There’s been no official word,” Taylor said. “No definite there… Anything can happen of course, in the future.”

Console Space Siege being “considered” says Sega
Shawn Green, associate producer of Space Siege for publisher Sega, has told VG247 that the Gas Powered Games-developed action RPG is currently under consideration for a console version, but that nothing’s been signed off as yet.
“We’re talking with them about it,” said Green. “We don’t want to let any cats out of the bag too early but definitely a console version is something that’s being considered right now. But currently it’s not confirmed.”
The game, billed as the spiritual successor to fantasy outing Dungeon Siege, was shown running at CES in Las Vegas last month. Built on a new engine from Dungeon Siege 2, it looks to bring a more casual element to PC RPGs.
“We’re seeing on console that a lot of gamers are appreciating the short and sweet experience, where you can play through and really like it and enjoy it, and I think that’s where a lot of Chris [Taylor – Ed]’s motivation comes from, taking that to the PC and creating a game that you can beat,” Green added.
Space Siege will release for PC in “September 2008”, Green said.
