Soul Calibur V video demonstrates Critical Edge system using Patroklos
In the latest video for Soul Calibur V, director Daishi Odashima demonstrates the Critical Edge system in the game, using Patroklos. It’s in Japanese, but you get the idea easy enough. It’s posted below courtesy of Andriasang. Also, check out Kotaku’s look at Assassin’s Creed hero Ezio in the game. It demonstrates his various moves and weapons. Game’s out on PS3 and 360 early next year.

Story trailer and screens released for Soul Calibur V
Namco has releases a new story trailer for Soul Calibur V, which gets you caught up on the battle between Siegfried and Nightmare that took place 17 years before the events depicted the game. Apparently, the face-off brought about a “cataclysmic conclusion” to the era, and ushered in a new one where the stories of old citing the sword’s loss of power may prove to be wrong. Interesting. There’s also a new batch of screens below as well. Soul Calibur V is slated for an early 2012 release on PS3 and Xbox 360.

Mari Shimazaki’s character designs for Soul Calibur V characters Lexia, Ivy and Tria have been released along with a bevvy of in-game shots from the fighter. Shimazaki, works as a freelance illustrator in various fields, and previously worked for Capcom where she designed characters on Okami before transferring to Platinum Games to work as a character designer for Bayonetta. Namco Bandai Games International has posted over one and a half hours of Soul Calibur V goodness, including plenty of gameplay footage and a look at guest character Ezio in action.
The video was recorded live and includes chats with the developers. It’s in Japanese, and there are no sub titles, but when did that ever stop you? Check out the whole thing through the break.
Soul Calibur V is expected on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in early 2012.

Dampierre’s ever the showman in Soul Calibur V video and screens
As Stace noted in his Soul Calibur V piece this week, Broken Destiny’s mustachioed Dampierre has been announced as a pre-order incentive for the fighter. While retailers partnering up with Namco on this have yet to be announced, those who do not pre-order will be happy to know the dapper fella will be made aviailable sometime after the game launched. A price is yet to be determined. The game hits stores in the US on January 31, 2012 and in Europe on February 3. Screens and a trailer are posted below. Thanks, D’toid.
