Sony’s announced it’s to keep open the closed beta of Starhawk throughout Christmas before closing it once and for all on January 3. The Lightbox and Sony Santa Monica effort will then go into open beta, with dates for its launch to come in the “next few weeks,” Sony Santa Monica producer Harvard Bonin said on the EU PS Blog. Players can gain access to the open tester with codes that came with their copy of Uncharted 3.

On Tuesday, November 22, the Starhawk private Beta will be going live on PSN.

Eurogamer‘s gotten hold of a video of the project collaboration between Sony Santa Monica and Polish tech group Plastic. The video of the project, which comes with Move support, shows two scenes involved a floating hand driving a car and a forest, both of which involves a pig. Get watching at the link.

Oh, job listings, you are indeed the curse of keeping things quiet. While nobody’s been quite sure what Sony Santa Monica has been up to since God of War 3 was released last year, we’re now seeing inklings that at least some of the team is working on an all-new IP.

Ready at Dawn’s Dana Jan, game director for God of War: Origins Collection, has posted information on the PS Blog regarding the bonus content included with it. Inside the pack, you will find a Legionnaire Kratos skin, the Forest of the Forgotten combat arena, and a video of the Game Directors Live round table discussion and a chat with the various folks who have had a hand in the series over the years. The round table discussion with God of War developers took place last year prior to the launch of God of War: Ghost of Sparta, and a video featuring clips of it is posted below the break. God of War: Origins Collection is slated for release next week, and there is a demo for Volume II of the collection up on the PS Store today.

Not content with the Team ICO blowout, IGN’s gone live with ten minutes worth of footage from the God of War Origins pack. The pair, which will release as God of War Collection Vol 2 in Europe, will come with remasters of the two PSP titles in Kratos’ adventures: Chains of Olympus and Ghosts of Sparta. Amazon.de’s listed something called the God of War: Master Collection on PS3. It’s apparently due on September 16, according to the listing, and will feature all of the God of War games to date: the first God of War Collection featuring GoW1 and 2, God of War III and the upcoming God of War Collection Vol. 2, featuring remasters of PSP games Chains of Olympus and Ghosts of Sparta. Sony announced the God of War Origins collection for PS3 last night, a bundle of revamped versions of the IP’s PSP spin-offs. Sony did not announce God of War IV, as had been rumoured yesterday morning. Still, God of War is like ultra-badass super-crack: some people can never have enough. Forbes is reporting that a new God of War title will be announced at Sony’s press conference tomorrow morning. The report says that it’ll be a “new 3D adventure.” The last big GoW title was God of War III on PS3 last March from Sony Santa Monica, with the last in the series altogether being PSP title Ghost of Sparta from Ready at Dawn. Sony’s E3 event happens from 1.00am BST tomorrow morning.

UK mag PSM 3 is citing a source who “works closely with the God of War universe” as saying the next game in the first-party hack franchise will launch next year. Sony Santa Monica posted a job listing in March looking for “senior online programmer” for the “God of War team,” which probably means some people are working on another game. Via CVG, Eurogamer, Kotaku, etc, etc.
