There’s nothing else to say. They’re screenshots and Sonic’s in them. Look at Detructoid.

New Sonic Unleashed shots pop up

sonicunleashed7.jpg

They’re on Ene3.com. There’s some old stuff in there, but a lot of it’s new. Sonic’s latest hits all major platforms this autumn.

First shots of Were-Sonic seen in NOM scans

sonicunleashed6.jpg

The first shots of Sonic’s werehog alter ego can be seen on Pro-Gamers.fr, scanned from the pages of the UK Nintendo Official Magazine. The screens are from Sonic Unleashed, the upcoming Sega title that manages to look as though it may actually be a good Sonic game, which is nice. Expect plenty more soon.

Sonic Unleashed will be more like the Sonic of old

sonicunleashed5.jpg

Yoshihisa Hashimoto, Team Sonic’s lead designer has said an interview with ONM (UK) that Sonic Unleashed will be nothing like the more recent next-gen outings.

“In our minds, this game will have more in common with the older Sonic Adventure series. It has no relation to Sonic the Hedgehog [the 360/PS3 game] or Sonic And The Secret Rings,” he said. “We wanted Sonic fans to love Sonic even more. Also, for people who are not familiar with Sonic, we think that this will be a great way to introduce them to Sonic The Hedgehog.”

He confirmed to the magazine that the Wii version will be out this winter but online play won’t make it.

Sega recently confirmed Sonic Unleashed a week after it decided not to comment on some rather spiffing looking leaked footage.

New Sonic Unleashed teaser movie (maybe)

A new trailer involving a hand, a ring and a hairy arm has popped up, claiming to be a new trailer for Sega’s Sonic Unleashed. It kind of looks as though it might not be, but it’s Sonic-related, so watch it anyway. After the link.

Sonic Unleashed video re-appears

Shacknews has it. It’s the same trailer that found its way to YouTube a few weeks ago before being pulled, but now it’s in glorious wide-o-vision. Pretend like you haven’t seen it and take a look.

Sega confirms Sonic Unleashed

sonicunleashed4.jpg

Sega confirmed Sonic Unleashed half an hour ago, but we were out teaching a woman how to drive a car.

It’s built on the “Hedgehog Engine”, apparently (really), and will release for 360, PS3, PS2 and Wii “later this year”.

The game will provide “seamless 3D to classic 2D camera transitions” and has been in the works for three years.

The plot sounds amazing:

Having been broken apart by the evil Dr Eggman, it’s down to Sonic to put the pieces of the world back together again by retrieving the power of the chaos emeralds. In doing so, Sonic will find himself in a race against time and faced with an unusual situation that will challenge him in ways never before seen. By completing a wide variety of action-packed stages, spanning the seven broken continents of the world, gamers will need to unleash Sonic’s amazing abilities to save the world, and himself!

Sonic Unleashed is quite possibly the worst kept secret in the history of secrets, having been leaked all over the place over Easter before Sega America got all legal of people’s asses and tried to get screens and a movie taken off the web. Read more here.

Press release after the link.

Destructoid and Exophase pull Sonic Unleashed material after Sega pressure

Ow. At a legal request from Sega, US site Destructoid has pulled all leaked Sonic Unleashed shots and the video that emerged last week, as you can see here. Not so good.

Exophase, the other primary source for the screens, has also pulled all their shots.

“Following a request from SEGA, we have removed the images,” said the site.

On the plus side, this almost certainly means all the material’s legit, if you ever doubted it for a second.

Hilariously, a lot of the screens released last week were destined for US magazine exclusives, so we bet they’re happy. You should have launched websites, print people, then we wouldn’t have to go through this sort of shit every ten minutes.

Sega Europe on Sonic Unleashed: “No comment”

sonicunleashed3.jpg

Sega Europe has just issued a “no comment” to videogaming247 on the validity of the Sonic Unleashed content that appeared over the weekend.

Shots and a video hit the web on Friday, apparently taken from an official FTP server. A German site claimed Sega Europe had confirmed the validity of the media, but then immediately retracted the story.

If those assets aren’t real, we’re Dutch. And we’re not. You’ll just have to wait for official details.

First Sonic Unleashed footage (definitely)

sonicunleashed2.jpg

See it after the link. You’re going to be holding the joystick in one direction a lot, but that’s fine with us. Looks like a hark back to Sonic Adventure, and given all the horrible things that’ve been done to the poor hedgehog since the halcyon Dreamcast days, we’re all for that.

No idea on dates, etc. See screens here and here (thanks, Zumi).

First Sonic Unleashed shots leaked (maybe)

sonicunleashed.jpg

Here. There’s no telling whether or not these are authentic, but they certainly look the part. These were apparently taken from a Sega FTP site but have now been removed, etc, etc. If someone “made these up”, however, Sega should probably offer them a job.

No details on the game at all yet, if the game even exists. “Sonic Unleashed” was trademarked by Sega recently.
