Sega has released a new trailer and some images from Sonic and the Black Knight.
The video shows an impressive cutscene interspersed with some gameplay of Sonic bombing about, holding a sword, hacking and slashing his way through a castle town.

Sonic and the Black Knight is released for Nintendo Wii worldwide in March.

No, it’s definitely a Sonic game. Sonic darts, jumps, and spin-dashes through King Arthur’s domain, all the while running with something far worse than scissors. Thankfully, we’re fairly sure he corrected that little tripping problem he picked up during his tenure at Super Smash Bros. Brawl. Hopefully.

After the break. This is Sonic, on Wii, in Authurian legend. Obviously. First footage looks OK. See for yourself. It’s out next year.

GoNintendo’s rounded up a ton of detail on the now-announced Wii-only Sonic game, The Black Knight, and it apparently included aspects such as online item trading, branching missions and a probable – although unconfirmed – sword-based online multiplayer.
The game’s set around the Arthurian legend, and sounds heavy on the sword. It’s out this winter. Find a load of scans here.

Sega’s formally announced the Wii-exclusive Sonic and the Black Knight, although a rep confirmed the project was the real deal over the weekend.
Apparently, “Part of the storybook series of games that began with Sonic and the Secret Rings, this new title brings Sonic into the world of Arthurian legend and offers the worlds most infamous blue hedgehog the chance to become a knight. Using the unique Wii control system, this exciting game will take advantage of both the Wii Remote and the Nunchuk to offer an interactive experience that any Sonic fans will love.”
It’s Sonic Team, apparently. Press release after the break.
