SOCOM devs patch beta, fix servers

socomconfrontation8.jpg

SCEA’s confirmed that a SOCOM: Confrontation patch will be released today to ease pain on the game’s troubled beta.

We will be performing server maintenance and rolling out a new patch on September 9th at 5am PDT, 1200 GMT. The SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALs Confrontation game servers will be unavailable during the maintenance. The server maintenance is not expected to last longer than 1 1/2 hours.

SOCOM: Confrontation Public Beta 1.10 Patch

  • Adds support for European EULAs.
  • Adds support for dedicated servers located in Europe and Australia.
  • Addresses a number of stability and late joining issues.
  • Reduce the volume of the proximity chat by 50%.

The server maintenance and patch are not meant to address all issues. We will have more updates to both the server and client in the future.

This is what betas are about, chaps. Watch for the patch later today.

SOCOM beta battered by demand, Sony working on load issues

socomconfrontation5.jpg

Speaking in this official blog post, SCEA’s Seth Luisi has apologised to load issues to to high demand for the SOCOM beta, saying everything should be fixed by the end of next week.

“Due to overwhelming demand for the SOCOM: U.S. Navy SEALs Confrontation Public Beta, we are experiencing load related issues,” he said.

“These issues are causing abnormal latency, disconnects, long load times, login errors and community features such as clans and stats not functioning correctly (or at all).

“We are doing everything we can to resolve these issues as quickly as possible and you should see some improvements progressively over the next couple of days. However, we do not expect to have the issues completely resolved until close to the end of next week.

“We apologize for the inconvenience.”

Shooting people for free is clearly the new black. Game’s out on September 16.

Pre-order one SOCOM, get three beta keys

Army of Two? Hah! Try Army of Two Plus One. According to Joystiq, you need only pre-order a single copy of SOCOM: Confrontation from Gamestop to pocket three beta keys.

Of course, if you plan to download the game from PSN, a quick (read: year-long) Qore subscription will also yield a beta key – but only one. And frankly, a $5 pre-order is cheaper, and fully retractable.

So, which route will you be taking?
