Slightly Mad Studios, the team behind Project Cars has announced their going around track fast simulation will be going around the track on “next-gen” platforms next year, including the Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Steam OS. The team has promised the new console versions will represent “new benchmarks of graphical fidelity and technical power” as team aims to set a “new standard” for car games. Additionally, the team revealed the Steam OS version will include “specific multiplayer and social features” that are apparently only possible on new operating system.

Slightly Mad Studios has stopped taking crowdfunding funds for Project CARS after UK’s financial services watchdog, Financial Conduct Authority, has intervened on the matter.

Project Cars developer Slightly Mad Studios has released a new trailer for its indie racer, showing off some insanely detailed tracks and real-world car designs. The game is now due in 2014, although you can play the PC alpha right now if you can’t wait that long.

PC Gamer has a gallery of screenshots taken from the crowd-funded Project CARS. The shine on these vehicles is such that we’d be calling shenanigans if PR sent them through, but they were all captured by users – although that doesn’t mean your console or wheezing rig will achieve the same results. After several months of silence, Slightly Mad Studios has re-surfaced clutching a copy of Test Drive: Ferrari Racing Legends. The racer is now scheduled to launch in Europe on July, according to a post on the game’s Facebook page, although only PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 releases were noted. We had expected it on PC as well, but then again, we also expected it in March, so. Remind yourself why we’re excited with this trailer.

Slightly Mad Studios have released nine new previews of their WMD-powered Project CARS title, showing off “the continued evolution of the title’s graphics engine.” Each preview shows new features which have been added to the title’s “dynamic time of day system” which allows players to race during any time of the day with realistic dynamic lighting, and sun and moon rendering. Spotlights which light up parts of the track while casting shadows on the environment have been added as well, and additional light sources from neighboring towns and trackside objects like grandstands are also included. You can join the crowd-sourced Project CARS for a one-time-only payment of €10 to become a Junior member. New screenshots are below.

Slightly Mad Studios has raised $660,000 for its crowd-sourced racer, C.A.R.S., and the firm hopes to raise a total of $5 million for a two-year development cycle. Stock in the game can be purchased through the World of Mass Development Project for as little as $5 to $100,000. The firm believes the project can raise as much as $53 million with Slightly Mad keeping 30% of the profit, and the rest going into the pockets of all who purchased stock. Test Drive Ferrari’s first trailer has appeared this morning, confirming Slightly Mad Studios is behind its development. The logo of the studio, which worked on Shift 2: Unleashed, appears at the beginning and end of the trailer. The video itself, quite frankly, looks amazing. The racer’s first screens released yesterday.

Polish site Gry-Online has published what are apparently the first screens of Test Drive: Ferrari following the game’s announced by BigBen Interactive back in November. A developer hadn’t been confirmed up until now, but the site’s claiming Shift 2 developer Slightly Mad Studios is handling it, as previously speculated. Get the shots at the link.
The racer’s down for a March release on PS3, 360 and PC.

Slightly Mad Studios and Eurogamer have teamed up and created a contest which would see the winner heading over to Slightly Mad’s studio to help it design a track for its free to play kart racer Project Cars. The winner will be decided through a Hot Lap competition using the Caterham R500 Superlight racer. The person with the best time around the Conneticut Hill track will be sent to the studio, and if you are based in the UK, Slight Mad will cover your travel costs.
