Files dug up in the latest Skyrim patch suggest future content for the game could contain crossbows as well a questline featuring those pesky Falmer who were once a race of elves.

Bethesda’s Pete Hines has said he is working on acquiring more information regarding a release date for the first round of Skyrimn DLC. He’s hoping to provide more information “maybe next week. We’ll see.” He said he is also trying to confirm a Kinect release date, so be on the look out for that as well. Via Twitter.

The Game Marketing Summit has handed the award for Game Marketing Agency of the Year to AKQA, which is the advertising partner of Bethesda. The studio handled the advertising for Skyrim. Campaign of the Year was handed over for Skyrim as well, and RAGE won Best Use of Sound, Best Website for a Product, Best Online Advertising Campaign. EA won for Best Partnership with ESPN, Ubisoft was handed the award for Outstanding Overall Marketing Campaign – General Entertainment for Rocksmith, and Activision took home an award for Most Effective Buzz Marketing: Promotion due to its Call of Duty XP advertising. Bethesda’s teased an incoming announcement for tomorrow in a tweet tonight, attaching with it a screen which suggests we’re about to hear first details on the first expansion for Skyrim.

Bethesda is to add Kinect support for the Xbox 360 version of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, with the update featuring more than 200 voice commands and other pieces of funtionality.

Bethesda’s parent company, ZeniMax Media, has applied with the USPTO for six different trademarks covering the the Skyrim shout, “Fus Ro Dah”. No idea what it could be for, but it the various trademarks apply to “computer game software for use with computers and video game consoles; downloadable computer game software offered via the internet and wireless devices; cell phone cases; downloadable cell phone ringtones; digital tablet cases; smart phone cases; mouse pads; eyeglass cases; head phones, t-shirts, toys” and many, many more things. Saints be praised: the Skyrim patch PS3 players have been hoping for will arrive on PSN later today, according to Bethesda. Upgraded killcams and other goodies included in update 1.5 will also be inlcuded. Get the patch notes here.

A trademark filed by Zenimax Media around the end of February, and totally missed by us, may possibly hint at a possible expansion plan for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.

Bethesda’s Todd Howard told G4 in the latest episode of X-Play he prefers mods over DLC and doesn’t understand why so many game companies don’t provide users the tools to create their own content nor why they don’t allow modding, period.

Todd Howard has said Bethesda will “take more time” on creating DLC for Skyrim as the extra “meat” it’s adding to the content will make it feel more like an expansion pack.

Bethesda’s Todd Howard has said the team working on Skyrim knew it would experience a “bad memory situation” when developing the game for PS3, and worked extra hard on the code to prevent issues from occurring; however, problems did arise with “a small percentage” users.

Bethesda concept artist Adam Adamowicz, who created amazing art for Fallout 3, Skyrim and other Bethesda titles, has passed away after a long battle with cancer. The sad news was quietly announced by Pete Hines after Skyrim won big during the Academy of Arts & Sciences awards at DICE. A lovely tribute to the man who helped create some of the wonderful games we enjoy, and written by a fellow concept artist, can be found over on Awesome Robo. Our thoughts and most sincere condolences go out to each one of his family and friends.

For many PS3 users, the release of patch 1.4 for Skyrim was an absolute blessing, as it contains a fix to some lag issues players have been experiencing on the system since launch. However, a few players have noted they are still experiencing some issues, while others have reported smooth sailing.
