Howard: It’s a “common misconception” Skyrim’s PS3 issues are tied to save data

Bethesda’s Todd Howard has said the team working on Skyrim knew it would experience a “bad memory situation” when developing the game for PS3, and worked extra hard on the code to prevent issues from occurring; however, problems did arise with “a small percentage” users.

Bethesda concept artist Adam Adamowicz passes away after battle with cancer

Bethesda concept artist Adam Adamowicz, who created amazing art for Fallout 3, Skyrim and other Bethesda titles, has passed away after a long battle with cancer. The sad news was quietly announced by Pete Hines after Skyrim won big during the Academy of Arts & Sciences awards at DICE. A lovely tribute to the man who helped create some of the wonderful games we enjoy, and written by a fellow concept artist, can be found over on Awesome Robo. Our thoughts and most sincere condolences go out to each one of his family and friends.

Bethesda list two steps PS3 users should follow when applying patch 1.4 to Skyrim

Skyrim patch 1.4 live for 360 now, expected later today for PS3

As promised last night, Bethesda has released Skyrim update 1.4 on Xbox 360 with the PS3 version expected sometime today as well. The full list of changes can be found through the Bethblog, which has been running a constant update on additional fixes added to the patch.

Machinima video shows over 1,000 Skyrim warriors doing battle

A rather interesting machinima video from YouTube user Tyrannicon has surfaced, and it features 500 Draugr, 500 Dwarven warriors, 200 skeletons and a dragon going at it in Skyrim. According to the

Skyrim Creation Kit “on track for release” February 7

Bethesda’s Pete Hines has used the magic of Twitter to let folks know the Skyrim Creation Kit is on track to be released Tuesday, February 7. What’s more, the developers have a “special surprise” in store with the release. Here’s the tweet: “For our Skyrim PC fans, the Creation Kit is on track for release on Tuesday. And, we also have a special surprise with it.” Nary a hint was given as to what the surprise entails, but it won’t be much longer now.

My Little Pony Skyrim mod replaces dragons

This is, and will be, the best thing in all of existence ever. Someone’s managed to mod one of the characters from My Little Pony into Skyrim, replacing the dragons in the game. There’s videos of it in action below the break. Watch this too if you have a spare 20 minutes.

Video shows Project Fiona running Skyrim at “ultra high”

Destructoid got a look at Project Fiona, Razer’s PC tablet, running Skyrim on ultra high settings with 1280×800 resolution at CES. The site noted that the game had a few little framerate issues, but said it ran perfect when switched to high. Check out a video of it in action, posted below.

Bethesda reconfirms PS3 issues in Skyrim will be addressed with Update 1.4

Bethesda has taken to Twitter to assure PS3 users experiencing stuttering and lag in Skyrim that the issues will be addressed with the release of Update 1.4. The issues occur with the PS3 version as save files age. Users were hoping framerate issues would be fixed with Update 1.3 in December, but Bethesda said at the time the issues would be fixed in the next release. The latest patch is expected sometime this month.

Skyrim mod brings online play to the PC

GameFront is reporting on a new in-development mod for the PC that would bring cooperative and online play to Skyrim. The mod will reportedly allow players to quest together, trade items, and chat with other players worldwide.

There’s no word yet on exactly how it works since the mod is still in production, however a video was released that you can view after the break. The video is extremely rough, but it does show basic character models playing and moving around together in Whiterun (though without animation.)

Video shows Skyrim being played with Kinect on PC

An industrious Skyrim modder has posted a video showing how the PC version of the game works with Kinect. As shown in the video below, using a Blootuth headset the voice control component of Kinect is used for shouts and menu navigation, and of course, the techs prerequisite arm-swinging will implement weapon and magic attacks.
