Singularity – Cause and Effect video

The newest video for Raven Software’s FPS Singularity may be called Cause and Effect, but it really just shows us how cool it would be to bust some shit up and then put it back together again with the handy-dandy Time Manipulation Device attached to your wrist
Apparently, you can also use it to suck the life force out of someone. That could also come in rather handy, depending upon the situation.
You can watch the video below the break.

Report: Wolfenstein developer reduces staff by 30-35 people

Raven Software has made 30-35 employees redundant at its Wisconsin studios.
Activision has confirmed the lay-off to Kotaku, but declined comment on the exact number of people affected.
“With the recent completion of both X-Men Origins Wolverine, based on the summer blockbuster movie, and Wolfenstein, the next chapter of the famed franchise, Raven Software is slightly reducing its workforce to better reflect the studio’s upcoming slate,” read an Activision statement.
Sources close to Kotaku claim that the layoffs were due to an “over-budget and under-performing Wolfenstein and the delay of upcoming time-shifting shooter Singluarity.”
The delay for Singularity forced Raven to move Wolverine team members over to help with the delay, and the subsequent shift in personnel along with expenses has turned the”three game studio into a two game studio”.

ActiBlizz: Shareholders, analysts concerned over possible StarCraft 2 delay
Shareholders are apparently a bit worried that Activision Blizzard may face some financial obstacles by the end of the year, what with shares in the company falling 14 percent in the past month.
The main concern, reports MarketWatch, is ActiBlizz’s current release schedule, shifting Singularity into 2010, and the growing assumption that StarCraft 2 may miss it’s release date.
“The beta testing for StarCraft 2 hasn’t started yet,” said analyst Jess Lubert of Brean Murray.”If it starts in August and takes 5-6 months, then launching the game this year is next to impossible.”
Some analysts have moved the game out of the ActiBlizz estimates for the year, some citing the potential delay of the RTS along with Singularity being moved and the possibility of Guitar Hero: Van Halen being pushed back as well.
China holding back a full release of World of Warcraft while Blizzard gets the server situation worked out between NetEase and The9 has also been taken into account by investors and analysts.
ActiBlizz has scheduled its Q2 earnings call for August 5, but a StarCraft 2 date is not expected to be announced – however, some analysts feel that Modern Warfare 2 will swoop in and save the day, with some estimating that it will sell up to 8.5 million units, and surpass 10 million units lifetime.
“Even without StarCraft, I think Activision should be able to get to their current guidance for the year. But without StarCraft, getting an upside to that number might be challenging,” Lubert contniued.
“I just think investors need that certainty of when it will ship, and it will remove this overhang.”

Singularity delayed to Q1 2010

Raven and Acti Blizz have delayed Singularity until the beginning of next year to keep it our of Modern Warfare 2′s all-smashing super-snowplough. Sensible.
“The level of excitement for Infinity Ward’s Modern Warfare 2 coming out of E3 well exceeded our expectations and therefore we have decided to move Raven’s upcoming sci-fi first person action title, Singularity, from 2009 to Q1 2010,” an Acti rep told GameSpot.
“We believe that the March quarter will provide a better opportunity to establish the new cutting-edge action IP as a ‘must-have’ title and clears the way for Modern Warfare 2 to dominate this holiday season.”
There’s no exact new date as yet.
