This Hexus report is rumouring that Sony’s working on a SingStar game based on classic musicals, named, aptly enough, Singstar: Hits from the Musicals.
Apparently, the following tracks are to be included:
- Bad Guys – Bugsy Malone
- Can You Feel the Love Tonight? – The Lion King
- If I Were a Rich Man – Fiddler on the Roof
- Over the Rainbow – Wizard of Oz
This is actually cool. Singing If I Were a Rich Man is approximately 40,000 times more preferable than scratching along with Boyzone. We’re not 12. We’re real men.
More on this soon, hopefully.

The site will allow internet users to see uploaded videos from the game. Apparently SingStar players will be able to say whether or not they want their videos to be viewed by the general public or held within the current, PS3-only system.

Last week’s GDC was a strange affair that threw up more questions than answers. While it carried the predicted unveiling of Gears of War 2 and a Microsoft keynote holding traditional big hitters such as Fable 2 and Ninja Gaiden II, the event’s main speech’s message was by no means “the norm”. Yes, the blood, swords and guns were all where they were supposed to be, but at the core of John Sheppard’s keynote was a theme of radical change that permeated the entire conference, and one that left both developers and platform holders alike chewing their nails.

According to this, SCEA’s now fixed a May launch for the American edition of Singstar PS3, meaning that soon, US readers, you too will be able to bury your head in the sand, pretend you can sing, and do things you’ll probably regret for the rest of your life.
“We’re happy to announce that SingStar PS3 will be released in the US this coming May,” said SCEA’s Ryan Hamlyn. “We’re excited to share more information in the near future on all the cool features fans can expect at launch.”
We’ve nothing more to add. Good luck to you, you poor American fools.
