EA to shutter The Sims Social and other Facebook games
The Sims Social, SimCity Social and Pet Society are all facing the chop, developer and publisher EA has confirmed. The company intends to close down all three games due to slumping player activity.

SimCity Social now available for your city-building needs
EA has announced SimCity Social had left beta and is now available for you and your friends to play on Facebook. In the game, cities will evolve as a direct result of player-driven choice, and as mayor, you will deal with all sorts of unforeseen issues like fires, crime and pollution, and make crucial decisions as well. Social features allow you to build relationships with other cities – friendly or not-so-friendly – through the friend and foe system. Go play it here. Screens are below.

EA takes aim at Zynga with latest SimCity Social trailer
With SimCity Social now in open beta, EA has released a new trailer entitled “More City, Less Ville”, in an obvious attack on Zynga’s highly successful CityVille.

SimCity Social now in open beta
EA’s SimCity Social has launched on Facebook and has already eaten a large chunk of my day. If you’re keen to check out the city builder and management sim, sign up here. It is not yet clear whether the social title, which seems to build on EA’s previous success with The Sims Social, will have any ties to SimCity when it launches next year.

Rumor – SimCity Social is Maxis’ new Facebook game
Three domain registries filed by EA suggest the firm is in the process of bringing SimCity to Facebook. The domains SimCitySocial.com, SimCity-Social.com and SimCityFacebook.com were renewed back in September, and SimsVIP reports that the Playfish SimCity Social URL “http://apps.facebook.com/simcitysocial/” pops up in Google Cache if you stop the link from loading before being redirected to Facebook. This is likely the game EA mentioned was in the works from Maxis during its call to investors on Monday. Thanks, Joystiq.
