Siege of Mirkwood to contain solo mode for Volume One epic storyline

Siege of Mirkwood is out on December 1, and there will be a new solo mode for players – like yours truly- who have not finished the epic quest line for Volume One due to being unable to find groups to tackle the content.
Because the game has been out for such a long period, higher level players not wanting to delve back into something they have already finished. Therefore, newer players or ones who have for one reason or another not finished the quest line – yours truly – are skipping it.
Riding in on a sturdy white horse from Book 15 comes Turbine to the rescue with the upcoming “Inspired by Greatness” mode.
The new mode enables players to solo these quests and in turn get a significant boost to morale/power, in and out of combat morale/ power regeneration, damage, and healing, according to MMORPG.
Great to hear, that.
In order to get you excited for the very large patch headed players’ way, new screens for the game are after the break, and feature the Ashenslades region deep in the forest of Mirkwood.

Weekly MMO news round-up: Chinese gender-bending, Aion changes, Star Trek, AoC

This was a rather large week in MMOs as far as news went, and not all of it was Halloween related.
Past the break you will hear all about how Ultima Online is still going strong, get familiarized with the new patch for Aion, read up on Cryptic’s Blood Moon event via a dev chat, PvP henchmen and Guild Wars, Alganon’s delay, China’s ban on males playing females in games, and many other bits of stuff that didn’t hit the front page during the week.
Also, we hope everyone who plays MMOs enjoyed the Halloween and Fall festivities that their particular favorites hosted. Loads had celebrations, more than likely every single one of ‘em. If we forgot to mention your particular game, head on over to the list through the link ther and add it in the comments section so that we may give it its proper shout-out.

Pics: Siege of Mirkwood shots show danger in the Scuttledells

Turbine has sent over some really nice screens for LOTRO’s Siege of Mirkwood expansion.
Looks like when exploring the Scuttledells region, adventurers will be faced with wrights, spiders, gaunt men, and those annoying craban that you just want to smash into mush.
The expansion comes out digitally in December. Have a look past the break.

Check out the video for Siege of Mirkwood

Turbine has released a video for Siege of Mirkwood, the upcoming expansion to Lord of the Rings Online.
It looks rather fatalistic, to be honest.
Slated for release this December, the conclusion to Volume II: The Mines of Moria has players under the command of Lothlorien’s Celeborn and Galadriel, where you must fight through vast armies of Orcs alongside the Elves in a battle that will take you to the gates of Dol Guldur, the fortress of the Ringwraiths.
This update includes Book 9 and the Epilogue to last year’s expansion.
Wonder how many times we’ll get to hear the Ringwraiths scream?

Riders of Rohan expansion and Volume III confirmed for LOTRO [UPDATE]

[UPDATE] Massively has been informed by Turbine that the name RoR is NOT confirmed for the expansion and is contacting Gamerzines to get this fixed. Bummer. We’re going to go cry in our corner now.
Turbine’s Adam Mersky has confirmed to Gamerzines the plan for a Riders of Rohan expansion for Lord of the Rings online.
Apparently, Siege of Mirkwood will conclude Volume II: Mines of Moria, with Volume III ready at the gate.
“Volume III will kick off with our first content update of 2010. With our expansion this year we’ve changed the model; you can still expect to receive regular (free) content updates, but they may not map directly to the launch of a new Epic Story. The story will progress and proceed.”
He went on to confirm the RoR expansion which will be separate from Volume III (unnamed as of yet) and is slated for release sometime in 2010.
This should make the Riders of Rohan kinship on the Nimrodel server extremely happy.
Thanks, Massively.

LOTRO expansion, Siege of Mirkwood, coming this fall

Turbine has announced that Siege of Mirkwood, a digital expansion to Lord of the Rings Online: The Mines of Moria, Volume II, will be released this fall.
Siege of Mirkwood will expand the online world of Middle-earth where players will join forces go into the dark, creepy, spider infested forest of Mirkwood where the conclusion to Volume II will take place.
The download includes anincreased level cap, the fortress of Dol Goldur, enhancements to combat and Legendary Items and the introduction of Skirmishes, a new system where players will train customizable soldiers and take them into battle as part of the War of the Ring.
Details regarding pricing, preorder offers and availability will be unveiled soon.
Sounds great. Hopefully we will be able to meet the elves of Mirkwood as well – that’s where Legolas is from ya know. Mirkwood is also close to the Lonely Mountain and the Beorens so who knows what the future has in store for players of LOTRO.
Hopefully something very cool.
