The anecdote has much in common with Dylan Cuthbert’s post-mortem of Star Fox at GDC this year. The full interview feature is quite an interesting read.

Shigeru Miyamoto has said the possibilities for Metroid using Wii U’s GamePad “could be really fantastic.” Speaking with IGN, Miyamoto said, hypothetically, with Metroid, it was easy to imagine interesting implementations for Wii U. “I think that having another screen with the gyro built in really gives you a lot of interesting opportunities for development,” he said, “and we can bring a lot of our games to life in a completely unique way with that. There’s certainly a lot that you could do there for that game.” However, the game he would “personally” really love to see land on Wii U is Star Fox, although he wouldn’t say whether it or Metroid were in development for the new console.
