Croteam’s Serious Editor has joined the ranks of the Steam Workshop-compatible. The tools were in beta for a short time, so the suite has gone live with more than 60 mods already available, including multiplayer and survival mode maps, character skins, and weapon and enemy modifications. The Editor should be available to all Serious Sam 3 owners via the Tools section of their Steam library.

Serious Sam 3: BFE will launch worldwide on Xbox Live Arcade next week, Croteam, Devolver Digital and Mastertronic have announced.

Those thinking of pirating Serious Sam 3 may wish to reconsider, unless they want to be dogged constantly by a giant, pink, invincible scorpion. According to a report over on Dark Side of Gaming, the DRM in the game is said giant scorpion, and it cannot be killed. It only appears in pirated versions of the game, and will be your constant, deadly nemesis from the moment you boot up the game. Croteam boss Roman Ribaric won’t be drawn on any specifics about Serious Sam 3 as it’s “too early.” However, he will say that the cartoony look of old has been dropped.

“”I can’t yet reveal any new features on Serious Sam 3, as it’s still too early,” Ribaric told Eurogamer.

“However, I believe Serious Sam fans would want to hear the following two things. First, Serious Sam 3 will play like the original Serious Sam. And second, we’ll leave the cartoony look behind.

“As for standing up to other games: simply, if it’s good to play, it’s good to play,” He went on.

“Serious Sam games belong to their own unique fast-paced FPS genre and should best be compared to previous Serious Sam games.”

Serious Sam 3 has no date or platforms as yet.

Croteam’s CEO Roman Ribaric has posted on the company website that Serious Sam III is still in development, but it will still be a while before it’s ready for the adoring public because it still needs a publisher.

“Since the Serious Sam 2 was released in end of 2005, we have been working hard on a number of things, one of which is new next-gen ‘Serious Engine 3′ technology,” he wrote.

“We have also recently started the development on two games, one of which is the next Serious Sam FPS game. Here, we are pretty close in signing the publishing deal, so when that happens, you’ll hear it here as well.

“Since a lot still has to be done, especially on the next Sam game, we don’t have a firm release date on it yet. When we do, we’ll announce it here on our pages.”
