Batman dev rags on competition’s “average content”

batman2

Rocksteady dev boss Sefton Hill’s told Gama that there are “too many games out there that deliver lots of average content,” adding that “doing less” in terms of features ensured Batman’s high quality.

“Some of the things that we really wanted to achieve were for Batman himself, so we didn’t want to overstretch with a driving section with its own mechanic and requirements, and take that development time away from the things that were important for Batman himself,” he said.

You can’t argue with numbers: Arkham Asylum’s done more than 2 million now. Shame Hill didn’t name names. You should man up, Sefton. Call out the averagers. Take them to school.

There’s an interview here.

Game Informer Batman scans look amazing

Slashgamer has published the full Game Informer Batman: Arkham Asylum reveal, officially announced by Eidos yesterday. And it looks very good indeed.

All the major villains are present and the art-style looks in tune with the comics: gritty and menacing.

Of the stealth elements mooted in the official release, game director Sefton Hill says:

“If you look at a stealth game, it’s about being weak and hiding…this is about being in a strong positions and them not knowing where you are. It’s a very different fell. Predator gameplay we call it. Picking of the weak people.”

Check out this mouth-wateringly dark and macabre looking game through the link.
