TimeGate: No Plans for Section 8 demo on PC

TimeGate Studios has told readers on the Section 8 official forums that there will not be a demo released for the PC version of the game.
“We do not have plans to release a Section 8 demo for the PC at this time,” reads the thread. “Currently, we only have a demo for the Xbox 360 version.”
Sorry PC players, you will just have to take your chances with the retail version, which was released yesterday.
Unless, of course, you also own an Xbox 360. Still, that doesn’t give you an idea of how it plays on PC.
Thanks, Blue.

Section 8 multiplayer to allow user-created choke points

TimeGate Studios’ Robert Siwiak has said that the multiplayer in Section 8 will give players access to deployables instead of base building and the ability to create choke points.
“Playing a lot of other first-person shooters out there, I’m sure that many players can relate with finding this level designer-placed machine gun turret or something like that that always seems to be pointing in the wrong direction from where you want it,” the game director told Gamasutra.
“A direct counter to this was, well we couldn’t necessarily have base building in Section 8. The next best thing was giving players access to deployables — automated turrets or supply depots or sensor rays.
“The player can either, in one circumstance, if there’s a key bridge between two control points, can call down turrets to help defend that choke point and otherwise create that choke point that otherwise wasn’t there, or he can create on the edge of the map a forward staging area where he’s got the supply depot and other support structures that will otherwise help assault an enemy base that he’s got his sights keyed in on.”
Sure beats have a vacant turret with nothing but a wall to shoot at.

Section 8 screens show loads of shooting, RoboCop looking armor

New screens for TimeGate’s FPS Section 8 popped up this morning over on Eurogamer Germany.
You will see loads of laser shooting, and armor that looks like RoboCop.
Well, most “spacey” shooters have armor reminiscent of RoboCop. At least they look that way to us.
Anyway, the game “gives players unprecedented strategic control over the battlefield, employing tactical assets and on-demand vehicle deliveries to dynamically alter the flow of combat. Set in the distant future when humanity is facing a growing insurrection among its colonies, Earth dispatches the elite 8th Armored Infantry to turn the tide.”
Fantastic.
Still no date though.

Sounds awesome. Go play it. There’s no final date on as yet. Press release after the break.
