Konami E3: Saw captures the “texture” of the movies

saw

The actor who played Jigsaw from the Saw movies took the stage after Kokima stepped off during the Konami presser at E3. He was acting very creepy, apparently, and voiced his involvement with the game.

Supposedly, the game will capture the “texture” of the movies, and producer Jon Willamson showed off some of the traps from the game. One was the reverse bear trap and it rips heads apart.

Players must also look for clues in the environment to help them survive, with some out in the open and others hidden. These can look like bloodstains which form an image when viewed at a certain angle.

Jigsaw’s apprentices will be helping the sicko out, and will lead players into traps. These minions wear severed pig head masks.

IGN said that the game looks “dark, grim, and exceedingly bloody.”

Of course it does.

Konami’s said it wants its SAW adaptation to take a lead over Silent Hill in the horror genre, and has released first screens into the bargain.

“Because we have leadership in the survival horror genre, we’re passionate about it and wanted to find another property on par with Silent Hill,” Konami US marketing boss David Daniels told Variety.

“Saw has grossed over $600 million worldwide and sold over 16 million DVDs, so we felt like it was a great opportunity to align ourselves with one of the most successful horror film franchises in history.”

Saw writer “very excited” about horror game

saw2.jpg

James Wan, executive producer on the Saw movies, has posted on his blog that he’s “very excited” about writing the plot to the Brash game of the film.

“Leigh and I are very excited about this new venture,” he said, although we have no idea who Leigh is, if we’re being honest. “We are big gaming fans and we think it would a great opportunity to continue the Saw legacy into a different platform/medium. Keeps things fresh for us anyway. A lot of people have asked us if we would be interested in writing another SAW movie… Well, we are writing another Saw story… But it’s for the game. We’re treating this story like the Saw movies with lots of twists and turns. We have no idea how that is going to apply to a computer game format, considering that most games are generally pretty simple in it’s plotting. Maybe its a good thing that Leigh and I are naive to the video game world and that we’re writing it like its a movie!”

Brash confirmed it was working on the game that’s likely to make Jack Thompson’s head explode at the end of January.
