Steam is throwing a huge sale to celebrate Halloween. Sixty games either directly horror-themed or with Halloween content have been discounted by between 25% and 80%, with a good range of triple-A and indie, old and new. It is exceptionally difficult to continue talking about this and not fall back on terrible puns and sad cliché, so let’s stop.

As you may have noticed in this week’s US PlayStation Store update, Super Stardust HD and all its DLC are on sale. Although the European update didn’t mention it, the PS Blog assures us it applies to other territories, too – and all because the game just turned five. Oh bless, it’s old enough to go to school.

Square has announced for one week only, everything through its store is 50% off. This means you can get the likes of Quantum Conundrum, Deus Ex: Human Revolution, Mini Ninjas, Championship Manager Dungeon Siege III and more for half off – if you are in the UK and Europe that is. Sorry North America. Go spend some money.

During Quake con, which runs until August 5 on US time, you can grab any of of id Mobile’s games for 99 cents from the App Store. The full catalogue is: RAGE, RAGE HD, DOOM Classic, DOOM Resurrection, DOOM II RPG and Wolfenstein 3D Classic Platinum. These may be the last mobile games you see from id in some time; the mobile team has been absorbed by DOOM 4′s development.

Just when you thought you couldn’t spend any more money on Steam, the service’s indie bundles return. All 11 bundles are on sale at $10, or 75% off the usual price, meaning you can pick up a massive slice of the best of the indie scene for about $110. That’s 55 titles at $2 each. It’s definitely worth browsing for Mac users in particular, as many titles are cross-platform. The sale lasts until 4:00PM PDT August 2.

Rockstar has knocked 15% off Red Dead Redemption games and apparel until tomorrow, July 31, through the firm’s online store. The savings applies to physical copies of the original game as well as the Undead Nightmare disc on both PS3 and Xbox 360. Shirts are on sale too. Hit up the link.

Legend of Grimrock is 50% off at GOG.com for a limited time only. The turn-based dungeon crawler offers a pretty massive amount of content, especially at a reduced price tag of $7.50, and is soon to expand with a level editor. The indie effort has drawn lavish praise and holds an 82 average on Metacritic; that’s quite a lot higher than several games you probably paid $60 for, just sayin’.

Writing on an enormous Steam forum thread speculating on the whereabouts of Steam annual summer sale, Valve engineer Mike Blaszczak confirmed the digital distributor is “planning a sale sometime this summer”. Over the past few years, Steam’s summer sales have offered some tremendous bargains, with each day offering a new surprise selection.

The publisher has slashed prices on the US PS Store front, meaning you can fill out your Persona collection or grab a strategy classic like Knights in the Nightmare on the super cheap. Plus, guys – Rock of Ages is $5. Five bucks for a tower defence ball rolling game in which you take on some of the greatest minds in history. Why wouldn’t you.
