Mac port developer Aspyr has advised that it has released an update for the OS-X version of Borderlands 2. The patch adds leaderboards, achievements and “more importantly, multiplayer co-op with their Game Center friends”. Hopefully that last one means the much-touted cross-platform compatibility with PC is also back, having vanished thanks to a Gearbox update to the Windows version last year. Aspyr has also made DLC available as in-game purchases, and is offering 50% off the shooter RPG sequel on the Mac App Store.

If you’re a little behind on your real-time startegy gaming, there’s still time to pick up the most important release of the last few years before its immediate successor launches. Blizzard is offering StarCraft 2: Wings of Liberty at 50% off up until expansion Heart of the Swarm launches on March 12. That’s probably not long enough to master one of the premiere eSports of the current generation, but it will set you up to get on board the hype train next week. Wings of Liberty was focused on the Terran or human faction, which Heart of the Swarm is more centred on the Zerg. A third instalment is expected a couple of years down the track.

Amazon has the entire Darksiders franchise on PC for $13.20 – that includes both games and DLC. Rockstar has put every iOS game except Grand Theft Auto: Vice City on sale for 99¢, which is a particularly good price for Chinatown Wars, normally $10. Finally, if you check out the Wii U eShop, you’ll see an indies sale banner – Trine 2, Little Inferno and Chasing Aurora or Puddle (depending on territory) are discounted.

Sixty games either directly horror-themed or with Halloween content have been discounted by between 25% and 80%, with a good range of triple-A and indie, old and new.
