Ascaron still owns the license to Sacred, and it was not part of the IPs that Kalypso recently purchased from the troubled company.
According to the Sacred message boards, community manager Anca Adelina Finta stated:
“Studio 2 (subsidiary company of Ascaron) has the license for Sacred 2 and the devs will continue working at the add-on as they did before. In a nutshell, the add-on is not affected by anything and will come as planned.”
Good news for fans of the series.

Hit up Eurogamer for the video.

Sacred 2 developer Ascaron Entertainment filed for bankruptcy protection on April 14, reports WorthPlaying.
According to the site, delays may have attributed to the firm’s financial issues.
To try and get another company interesting in acquiring the studio, it was revealed that an add-on for Sacred 2 is scheduled for release this summer, as is a third installment.

There’s a video of the high elf’s special mount in Sacred 2 after the break.
It’s blue and it floats. It has snazzy stripes on the side. It looks a bit dragony.
The Koch RPG’s out on Marh 24.

As far as PR goes, the video after the link is something of a classic. It’s about a band called Blind Guardian, and how it got involved in doing the music for Ascaron RPG Sacred 2.
Basically, the band wanted to do a game, but couldn’t. And then it could. And there was metal in Sacred 2.
Feel the passion. Simple, innit. Game’s out on March 24.

Atari has announced that it will be publishing Ascaron Entertainment’s RPG, Sacred 2, and to celebrate, they’ve unveiled firm release dates for both PC and console.
The PC version will ship November 11, not November 7 as we told you the other day. The console versions hit the shelves on February 17.
So that’s that. Thanks, Shacknews.

Ascaron’s released a demo for RPG Sacred 2, available now from FilePlanet.
Apparently, “This exciting new demo immerses gamers in the mystical world of Ancaria, as they experience a small sampling of the quests, environments and monsters that will be part of the grand adventure of the full game. Playing as the beautiful and deadly Seraphim, a powerful guardian of the world of Ancaria and its T-Energy, gamers will explore the lush lands of the High Elves, encountering a variety of creatures and environments.”
It does not get better than that. Remember that Eurogamer’s Rob Purchese does some of the voices in it. So try it.

Eurogamer news chap Rob Purchese clearly isn’t just a pretty face. As seen in this EGTV video, the writer’s done voiceover for three of Sacred 2′s characters – a jester, a little green man thing and an old chap – and his performance has pretty much knocked out the development team.
“I think Rob’s a magnificent talent,” said Ascaron’s Alan Wild. “His delivery was superb, and the range of voices was just incredible.”
Take a look. The game’s out for PC and 360 later this year, with a PS3 version following in early 2009.
