RuneScape 3 announced, launching this summer

runescape-feb

RuneScape 3 has been announced by Jagex, and according to Massively, it seems to be building on RuneScape 2 instead of being released as something entirely new. Players will be able to log into the game with existing accounts, keep their avatars, and will run a bit faster thanks to its HTML5 engine and web GL. Runescape offers chance to play 2007-era release

20120124runescape

Jagex has dug up a perfect build of Runescape dating back to 2007. As a result, the developer is considering launching an “old school” server devoted to the outdated version, allowing players to relieve their nostalgia-riddled memories. Since maintaining the older build would be a lot of work., Jagex has promise to hire a new, dedicated team to manage it – if the community demonstrates enough support. Voilà: a voting portal will open on February 15. More information is available on the MMO’s blog.

Thanks, Massively.
