Runescape 3 players raised over $90,000 to various charities using the free-to-play MMO’s Well of Goodwill during the month of November. Jagex said “many tens of thousands” of players chipped in in-game wealth and Bonds to secure $90,838 in donations for the Willow Foundation, SpecialEffect, Action For Kids, Games Aid, Internet Watch Foundation, HART and the DEC Philippines Typhoon Appeal. The Well of Appeal will remain in game but is currently closed as Jagex plots its next charitable drive.

RuneScape’s developer Jagex has launch a charity drive in which players can donate their in-game gold and bonds to the developers, who promise to donate $1 to charity for every 10 million gold pieces players donate for a month. The program has so far gathered more than $11,000 and according to Jagex, will serve as the gold sink RuneScape’s economy needs, given that the game has been struggling with dramatic inflation over the last few years.

While Jagex launched RuneScape 3 this year, they also launched RuneScape Old School, an older version of the immensely popular browser-based MMORPG. It’s now had over 1 million players, and to celebrate Jagex will release the God Wars Dungeon.

In the latest update to hugely popular free-to-play MMORPG Runescape developer Jagex has introduced in-game Bonds to act as a currency for tangible rewards. They can even be put toward membership.

RuneScape 3 launched last month, and to help celebrate the third iteration along with the MMO turning 13 years old in January 2014, Jagex as sent over an infographic detailing some rather impressive stats for the franchise.

Jagex wants to do right by its Latin American fans, and has announced that RuneScape 3 will launch in Spanish when it comes to Argentina, Peru, Mexico, Chile, Colombia and Venezuela – among other territories. The localised release comes courtesy of axeso5, which will also provide support and community events. The Spanish-language announce follows on from word of a Brazilian release through UOL. The updated MMORPG goes live on Jul 22, worldwide.

Runescape developer Jagex has posted sales of $50 million, marking its most successful year to date. The company now plans to invest its spoils back into its expansion, and to double the size of its development team.

RuneScape 3 has been announced by Jagex, and according to Massively, it seems to be building on RuneScape 2 instead of being released as something entirely new. Players will be able to log into the game with existing accounts, keep their avatars, and will run a bit faster thanks to its HTML5 engine and web GL. Players will still be able to play using Java if they wish. More information is expected in the coming weeks. A video announcing RuneScape 3 is below. It’s out something this summer.

Jagex will opened its promised Old School Runescape servers on Friday after 450,000 players voted to get an old 2007 build up and running. Thanks to the outpouring of support, the server will be free to all members for six months, and Jagex will hold regular polls to determine how the it should be administered and developed. Runescape was given a major overhaul shortly after this build was stored away; check out the free-to-play MMO as it once was here.

Jagex has confirmed plans to launch a 2007-era build server for browser-based MMO RuneScape. In an announcement post, the publisher said voting slowed after 100,000 signatures, and it’s still not sure whether the server will be free or premium. Vote in the poll, if you fancy a bit of old school gaming.

Jagex has dug up a perfect build of Runescape dating back to 2007. As a result, the developer is considering launching an “old school” server devoted to the outdated version, allowing players to relieve their nostalgia-riddled memories. Since maintaining the older build would be a lot of work., Jagex has promise to hire a new, dedicated team to manage it – if the community demonstrates enough support.
