Rockstar looking for 8 new staff – new game on the way?

Over at Edge’s job section you can see that Rockstar North – you know, that tiny Scottish-based dev firm that does those open world thingies called ‘Grand Theft Auto’ – is looking to fill eight positions.
The jobs range from level designer, AI programmer to senior tools programmer giving us that sneaky suspicion that perhaps a new title is on the way. Either that, or eight people just left and they need replacing.
So, fancy a job working for one of the best development houses in Europe? All through the link.

Source: “Brand new” Rockstar IP “may never see light of day”
Speaking under conditions of strict anonymity to VG247 this morning, a source close to the matter has said that Rockstar North is working on a “brand new IP.”
Cryptically, the spy added: “It’s not 100 percent sure it’ll ever see light of day, anyway.”
The comments come after EGM published a rumour yesterday that the GTA developer is working on a new PS3 game, as well as putting together a third Max Payne.
Our source couldn’t confirm whether or not the new IP was a PS3 exclusive.
Rockstar North is also working on DLC for GTA IV at the moment, the release date of which is still to be confirmed.

The eight most powerful game studios in the world, as decided by Gamepro
It may have “OMG!” scrawled inexplicably on its sidebar, but Gamepro can put together a pretty solid list. Today, the site rattled off its top eight most powerful videogame studios, and we mostly agree. In no particular order, Gamepro gave the nod to:
- Epic Games
- Bungie
- Rockstar North
- Maxis Software
- EA Tiburon
- Sony Computer Entertainment
- Blizzard Entertainment
- Nintendo Entertainment Analysis and Development
Valve, Infinity Ward, and Harmonix took home runner-up ribbons.
So, can you think of anyone who’s missing? We can’t, but we’ll probably end up face-palming and saying “duh” once you guys get to commenting.

Grand Theft Auto – the Kate Moss Years
This is awesome. Mike Dailly, one of the original DMA Design staffers, has shared his photo collection from the early days of the studio, which eventually became Rockstar North and took responsibility for that funny Grand Theft Auto Game.
“Mike Dailly, one of the originals from DMA has uploaded several photo sets to Flickr, showing the background daily life of DMA from the early 90′s right through to the point the company became Gremloid/Rockstarred,” said PR stalwart. Brian Baglow.
There’s some amazing stuff in there, including a 3D visualisation of the original GTA, as well as a game called “Kid Kirby”, which never released.
Find the shots here. Thanks to GameSetWatch.
