Gold Star My Heart pack lands next week for Rock Band 3
Rock Band 3 players are sure to be scratching their heads at a couple of the offerings on slate in the Gold Star My Heart Pack next week, starting with one of the “most requested” songs for the series: Rick Astley’s “Never Gonna Give You Up.”

Bush hitting Rock Band 3 next week
Harmonix has announced Bush tracks will be made available for Rock Band 3 on February 7 for PS3, Wii, and Xbox 360. The tracks are from the band’s 1994 debut, Sixteen Stone, and the DLC consists of the following tracks: Everything Zen, Comedown, and Machinehead. The tracks will be made available for PS3 the following day in Europe, as part of the weekly PSN update. Each will run you the normal rate, and for an extra $0.99 you can upgrade the song Machinehead to Pro bass and guitar. A track pack will be made available for $5.49.

The Edgar Winter Group, Korn hitting Rock Band 3 next week
Harmonix has announced two tracks from The Edgar Winter Group’s album, They Only Come Out at Night, and two from Korn will be released for Rock Band 3 next week. The tracks are: Free Ride, Frankenstein, Freak on a Leash, and Falling Away from Me. The former tracks from Winter contain keyboard support, with the later containing Pro Guitar/Pro Bass as well. Each track will run you the usual price on PS3, Wii, and Xbox 360 come January 17.

Rock Band 3 gets a three-pack of RUSH, adds Black Veil Brides, Volbeat
Harmonix has announced that a three-pack of Canadian prog-rockers RUSH will be made available on PS3, Wii, and Xbox 360 December 13. Track include: Fly by Night, Caravan, and The Spirit of Radio (Live). Also to be made available are the singles Rebel Love Song from Black Veil Brides and A Warrior’s Call from Volbeat. Each track will run you $1.99, with an additional $0.99 for Pro tracks. More information is available on the Rock Band Blog.

Coldplay, Stevie Wonder coming to Rock Band as DLC
Harmonix has announced that Coldplay will make its bow on Rock Band as DLC in the coming months. Stevie Wonder will also make his debut with the game as DLC, with Breaking Benjamin and Dream Theater making returns. All of the DLC for the aforementioned bands currently remain dateless, with no songs unconfirmed neither.

Viacom is asking for a refund. That is, the company has found that it over-paid Harmonix stockholders in anticipation of certain Rock Band-related earn-outs that never happened, and it would like its money back, please. How much? US$131 million.

Harmonix spills the beans on what happened to Rock Band Japan
Harmonix once promised that it would bring the Rock Band franchise to the squealing fans of Japan. That was in 2008, and since then, both Harmonix and co-developer Q Entertainment haven’t really done much else about it. Now, Harmonix CEO Alex Rigopulos has spoken about what happened, explaining – among other things – that “there were a couple of significant challenges”.
