Conatus Creative has announced that it will make its engine open source if it reaches its crowdfunding target and produces the licensed retro beat-’em-up sequel River City Ransom: Underground. In a Kickstarter update, Conatus said it can’t offer drag and drop tools or a professional development suite, nor can it release the graphics, sound music or story, but will open everything else so that “modders have a clear blueprint they can follow to build their own beat’em up games”. River City Ransom is coming to PC, and possibly PS4 and Vita if stretch goals are met.
