A report on Kotaku states that MyResistance.net, the official site for Insomniac’s Resistance series, has been taken offline due to visitors being handed a fresh pile of malware scripts when visiting. According to the report, a forum user alerted the developer, and the entire site was taken offline for maintenance. Neither Insomniac nor Sony have confirmed the report as of press time. Stay tuned for updates.

It never ends, does it?

Insomniac has posted an update regarding patch 1.05, and along with a pending release date of next week, it will also come with two new multiplayer maps at no cost to you. The maps are Creek (16 players) and The Granary (four players). The patch will contain: network lag fixes; improved team balancing; purchasable abilities and equipment at level 60; fewer leaper spawns for Leaper Corpse, and better aiming with Move.

Sony has posted a developer diary for Resistance 3, which serves as a guide of sorts to Chimeran munitions. The last diary in the series focuses on the “high-tech weapons created or influenced by the Chimeran invaders.” The Resistance 3 multiplayer beta, which went live for non-Plus members of PSN this week, ends on September 4 while the game itself hits stores on September 9. SCEA’s Frank Simon has said the reason a fireman was chosen as the hero in Resistance: Burning Skies, is because the game needed a character that would be “willing to run into a burning building,” for one thing.

Shots of the Resistance 3 press kit with a look at PSN Pass have been posted online by TheSixthAxis, which show how the new online pass system being implemented with certain PS3 games will look when you open your game package. Resistance 3 will be the first game to use the system, which will have folks entering a code included with the game into PSN in order to access the multiplayer component. Resistance 3 launches on September 6 in the US and September 9 in the UK.

Expecting more Resistance with Insomniac after the release of 3? Doesn’t sound hopeful. R3 director Marcus Smith has suggested it could hand off the series.

Insomniac has released a new developer diary for Resistance 3, which features the first gameplay footage of Capeill smashing Grims with a giant Sledgehammer. It also provides a detailed look at the human guns in the game such as the Magnum, Carbine, and Marksman, as well as a look at the upgrades attainable. Check the video out below. Also, Gamersyde has some screens up for the game. They aren’t the same ones posted here, and a couple look familiar, but have look anyway just in case. Game’s out next month.

A YouTube user has uploaded more than 10 minutes of raw Resistance 3 Beta footage and it features guns, Chimera and lots of action. The player in the video doesn’t look as though he’s a veteran Resistance 3 player as he is mostly seen firing blindly rather than at enemies. The video’s rather fun to watch though. Resistance 3 releases exclusively for PS3 on September 6. Watch it after the break.

Insomniac’s James Stevenson has posted the latest developer diary for Resistance 3 over on the PS Blog, and in it, the team talks about bringing back classic Resistance: Fall of Man gameplay “like the weapon wheel.” Resistance 3 launches on September 6 in the US and September 9 in the UK for PS3. Check out VG247′s impressions of the game’s single-player demo here.

A source close to Jolt has told the site four first-party titles are planned for release alongside NGP “later this year,” and Japan will not be the first to get the new system.

Sony hasn’t been shy about letting its upcoming portable powerhouse hog the spotlight, but its games have been as docile and easily frightened as baby deer or an out-of-focus Bigfoot. Well, no more. The console maker’s released a nice, long reel of some of the NGP’s biggest games into the wild.
