Resident Evil: Revelations on Wii U will utilise the Game Pad’s offscreen capability, but won’t offer WiiMote control options, a post on Capcom Unity has confirmed. The announcement has disappointed fans of the series who enjoyed the slick controls of Wii outings like Resident Evil 4. Capcom is implementing Pro Controller support, though. Resident Evil: Revelations is an HD remake of the 3DS title headed to PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbiox 360 in addition to Wii U, and should arrive in May.

Resident Evil: Revelations originally released on the 3DS, a portable console, and thanks to the Wii U’s Game Pad, you can play the HD console re-release in much the same way. Is that a thing you’d want to do? According to a feature in ONM, as reported by Nintendo Insider, off-screen play is just one of a number of features exclusive to the Wii U version, and emulates the 3DS version’s two-screen inventory and map system, too. Resident Evil: Revelations is also expected on PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 in May.

Resident Evil: Revelations achievements for Xbox 360 has popped up over on Exophase. Back in November, the Korean Ratings Board indicated the title was heading to both PS3 and Xbox 360. The achievements listed state the game will be called Resident Evil: Revelations -Unveiled Edition upon release. Capcom has yet to confirm the 3DS game is even being ported to consoles, so it’s surprising that the achievements have already been leaked. Capcom managed to get Resident Evil 5 running on Nintendo 3DS while it was developing survival game Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D. The feat would then go on to inspire Resident Evil: Revelations. The studio has discussed the process in Nintendo’s latest instalment of ‘Iwata Asks’.

Capcom has released the launch trailer for Resident Evil: Revelations on 3DS, which launches in the US today, and according to GameStop’s website, it’s currently on backorder, so good luck getting it through that particular retailer online – unless your local shop has one. ASCII Media Works, known for its Dengeki magazines, has reported that Resident Evil: Revelations has sold-through 75% of its initial shipment in Japan its first week on sale, which essentially is around 158,012 copies. The figures show a discrepancy between ASCII’s figures and those of Media Create’s, which stated earlier this week the Capcom title moved 146,559 units its first week on sale. Furthermore, ASCII’s figures state another debut, Tales of Innocence R for Vita, moved 70% of its shipment, which is close to 53,000 copies, a bit less than the 54,853 reported by Media Create. Regardless which figures are correct, both debuts did well the first week on offer. Thanks, Siliconera.
