Plotline for Resident Evil: Afterlife surfaces, needs Don LaFontaine

milla

The plotline synopsis for the upcoming Resident Evil movie, Afterlife, has been revealed over on Screen Gems (via ComingSoon).

Sounding like something Don “In a World….” LaFontaine would have spoken for the theatrical trailer, the film synopsis reveals that Alice and survivors are seeking refuge in LA only to be sadly mistaken regarding what awaits them.

Here it is:

In a world ravaged by a virus infection, turning its victims into the Undead, Alice continues on her journey to find survivors and lead them to safety. Her deadly battle with the Umbrella Corporation reaches new heights, but Alice gets some unexpected help from an old friend. A new lead that promises a safe haven from the Undead leads them to Los Angeles, but when they arrive the city is overrun by thousands of Undead and Alice and her comrades are about to step into a deadly trap.

Damn we miss LaFontaine. He made everything better.

Boris Kodjoe and Kim Coates have also been cast.

Due to hit theaters during all 2010, Paul W.S. Anderson is once again directing with a script he wrote all by himself, and will shoot the flick in 3D.

“Alice’s battle with The Umbrella Corporation isn’t finished,” said Anderson. “Last time we saw Alice, she let them know she was coming after them. It’s time to settle the score.”

Go get ‘em Alice.

Milla Jovovich: Resident Evil film franchise still alive because “it makes money”

resident-evil-movie-1

The Resident Evil films may stray a bit too far from their progenitor’s plot path for comfort, but — nerd-ire be damned — someone likes them. Otherwise, the upcoming Resident Evil: Afterlife would’ve never made it into production. Glaring Expert and movie star Milla Jovovich explained:

“The movie makes money. If it makes more money than the last one, you’d think that people want to see another one, so we’ll do another one. There’s been a lot of interest online, there’s been a lot of letters from fans… film company,” she told shocktillyoudrop.

“It’s not like I said, ‘Hey, honey! Let’s do another one right away!’ I mean, it’s an expensive film and it’s all business and if the third one didn’t do well, there wouldn’t be another one.”

Jovovich went on to explain how no expense is being spared on Afterlife’s 3D effects, with director Paul W.S. Anderson studying a number of 3D films in hopes of really making his film pop off the screen.

Movie’s coming in September 2010, if you’re interested.
