Capcom: No plans for RE5 Wii port, no producer for RE6 yet

residentevil524

Capcom has not decided on a producer for Resident Evil 6 yet, according to RE5 producer Jun Takeuchi.

“The producer for Resident Evil 6 hasn’t been decided yet,” Takeuchi told Kotaku. “I think, while Resident Evil 4 is a great game, its appeal was limited somewhat to maniac players. With RE5, I wanted to bring the series to a larger audience. I think its important to do the same for the next RE.”

Also, while possible, the gaming house has no plans to port RE5 to Wii due to the hardware.

“With the difference between hardware specs for the Wii and the PS3, porting might be hard,” he said. “We currently have no plans.”

Bummer.

Thanks, GoNintendo.

Capcom: Resident Evil 6 “could take up to 8 years”

residentevil5a142

Resident Evil 5’s producer Masachika Kawata has told The Gadget Show that anyone holding out for a sixth game in the horror series had better have some serious patience.

“We haven’t decided whether we’re going to make Resident Evil 6 yet,” he said.

“But if we do, it could take anywhere up to eight years, but hopefully only four.”

Um. Right. Considering eight years is a significant percentage of most people’s lifetime, we can do nothing but salute you, Capcom.

Thanks, D-Pad.

Resident Evil 6 to see full franchise reboot

residentevil5a3

Producer Jun Takeuchi has told 1UP that Resident Evil it to get a proper reboot with its sixth game.

In what is destined to be the first genuinely epic game of 2009, Resident Evil 5 is practically guaranteed to be the last of its kind, with the game’s producer, Jun Takeuchi, assuring us that a reboot is in order for the inevitable Resident Evil 6. That’s not to suggest that there’s anything wrong with the evil at hand. Quite the opposite; it’s awesome fun, and we’ve beaten the game from beginning to end, and have a week’s worth of detailed, insider info for you to enjoy.

The news is likely to go down well with the many RE5 demo-players that felt the game was somewhat stuck in the past.

No date, details, or anything else for that matter. Obviously.

Thanks, Kotaku.
