Resident Evil 5 Mercenaries Reunion gets outfitted

re5

Capcom has released a couple videos, showing off the outfits Chris and Sheva can wear in the Mercenaries Reunion DLC for Resident Evil 5.

While Sheva’s “Fairy Tale” outfit resembles a strippers rendition of Little Red Riding Hood, Chris’s outfit, “Warrior,” looks a bit Village People meets Mad Maxx. To us at least.

A boxed copy of Resident Evil 5 (Gold Edition) containing all DLC released, plus Lost in Nightmares, Mercenaries Reunion, costumes and another TBA episode will retail for $49.99 as a single Blu-ray disc for PS3 or as a DVD with a token for the downloadable content for Xbox 360 on March 9.

Lost in Nightmares and Costume Pack 1 will be released on February 17 and 18 for 360 and PS3, respectively.

Another episode (title TBA) along with Costume Pack 2 will hit on March 3 and 4 for 360 and PS3 respectively.

Watch the videos for both outfits, courtesy of Joystiq, below the break.

residentevil540

Resident Evil 5 producer Jun Takeuchi’s confirmed to Famitsu that the game’s Director’s Cut content will be coming to 360, as reported by IGN.

The title’s new episode, which features around two hours of play, will be made available to 360 owners in a “different form,” according to that piece. You can “expect details in a future update.”

The Director’s Cut – or “Alternative Edition,” as it was shown at TGS recently – has only been seen thus far working with the Sony motion controller.

Capcom: No plans for RE5 Wii port, no producer for RE6 yet

residentevil524

Capcom has not decided on a producer for Resident Evil 6 yet, according to RE5 producer Jun Takeuchi.

“The producer for Resident Evil 6 hasn’t been decided yet,” Takeuchi told Kotaku. “I think, while Resident Evil 4 is a great game, its appeal was limited somewhat to maniac players. With RE5, I wanted to bring the series to a larger audience. I think its important to do the same for the next RE.”

Also, while possible, the gaming house has no plans to port RE5 to Wii due to the hardware.

“With the difference between hardware specs for the Wii and the PS3, porting might be hard,” he said. “We currently have no plans.”

Bummer.

Thanks, GoNintendo.

Video of RE5 working with PS3 motion controller

residentevil52

After the break. You can see very clearly what’s going on here. The game seems to work well with Sony’s wand, although the guy playing does appear to be holding both the motion controller and a standard pad. At the same time.

This is footage taken from yesterday’s Sony TGS press conference. PS3′s motion system is slated for a spring 2010 launch.

First Resident Evil 5 PC review is 9.3/10

residentevil539

IGN’s put up the first review of Resident Evil 5′s PC version, and it’s glowing.

“It may not be a radically new Resident Evil 5, but the PC version of the game still manages to hold its own with an improved control scheme and extra Mercenaries mode,” said the site.

“While the addition of costumes is somewhat minor, and you may require a few upgrades to your computer to take full advantage of what the game has to offer, you’re exploring a great story and excellent gameplay.”

It’s worth a whopping 9.3/10. You’ll be able to buy it next Friday.

Capcom looking into creating more DLC for Resident Evil 5

re5

Looks like some more DLC may be heading to Resident Evil 5, according to Capcom’s Christian Svensson.

Speaking with VG247 during its latest podcast, Svensson stated that currently the firm is discussing the possibility of releasing more downloadable content for the title, and is looking to the community for ideas and suggestions.

“We’re talking about it. I don’t know if you have seen some of the threads on Capcom Unity, but questions came up on whether we are going to do any more,” he said. “I asked what people would want to see and that spawned a thread that was literally hundreds of posts long and had tens of thousands of views.

“I mentioned that thread to the team and we have discussed it ever since. So I will leave it at that.”

More DLC is always a good thing. Especially when it involves shooting parasite infected enemies out to get you.

Resident Evil 5 producer talks PC tech, MT Framework engine

masachika-kawata

Resident Evil 5 producer, Masachika Kawata, sat down with PC Games Hardware to talk about the technology and pecs behind the PC version.

During the interview, Kawata talk about Capcom’s MT Framework engine, physics, pipeline rendering, and other techie stuff some of you may like.

“We use our own proud game engine, ‘MT Framework’,” he said. “The current version is compatible to PC (DX9/DX10), Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 formats. It allows the sharing of application source code and resources for each platform that exempts us from the need of individually developing for each platform in case of a multi-platform title such as RE5.

“Also, by continually researching and developing a game engine internally we can maintain high standards of technology and stay up to date. This then means that we can alter the engine as we like, even when we update the hardware. Another benefit is that it allows information sharing between systems and applications so the application could demand a change to the system or vice versa, very speedily.”

Get the rest through here.

PC exclusive Resi 5 clothes show Redfield in ridiculous studded leather

chrisinleather1b

Oh dear. Siliconera has a pic of the exclusive Resident Evil 5 costumes that come with the PC version of the game in September, and protagonist Chris Redfield’s cozzy (above)…well…looks a little bit silly.

Sheva, on the other hand, is wearing a charming little secretary’s outfit that’s simply too tight for her. Shame.
