Relentless will self-publish new title, still close to Sony

Last year, Relentless talked to VG247 about a new secret project in the works: today he company confirmed it’ll be self-publishing it.
The Buzz maker has been hard at work on this new Sony title, and despite the world’s economic woes, can afford to self-publish. The firm’s even looking to hire more staff.
“Despite the current economic crisis, we’re pleased to say that we’re still hiring,” says the Relentless website.
“We have some open positions for our future Buzz titles and we’re also hiring for our self-published Secret Project, more news of which in the coming months.
“At Relentless we’re more than a one hit wonder. Sony keep us very busy with our Buzz projects but there’s something bubbling under at Relentless Towers. We’ve taken everything we’ve learned about making social games and the result is what, for the time being, is known as Secret Project #1.”
Good to hear.

Relentless: “We’ve had offers, but selling isn’t top of our list”
Speaking exclusively to VG247 in Brighton today, Relentless Software’s Andy Eades confirmed that offers have been made for the Buzz! developer but there won’t be a sale just yet.
“It’s not top of our list of things to do,” said Eades on the subject of selling the highly successful independent.
“We’ve had offers, but I don’t think we’ve finished doing what we’re doing now, which is making social games… We didn’t really build Relentless to sell it in five years, and we’re only five years old now. There’s more to do with it before we sell.
“Of course, if someone was to offer me a massive amount of money then we’d reconsider.”
Eades was speaking ahead of Brighton’s Develop conference, which starts in earnest tomorrow.

Buzz!-maker confirms work on brand new IP, continues to “work closely with Sony”
Speaking exclusively to VG247 today, Relentless Software – developer of PlayStation quiz smash, Buzz! – has confirmed that the company has a brand new IP in the works.
“Yes, we have other stuff that we’re working on,” said creative boss David Amor.
“We started with 12 people making Buzz!, and we’ve crept all the way up to 80, but our company growth has been matched by Sony’s desire for more Buzz! games, for bigger Buzz! games,” Amor said, explaining why it’s taken until now to come forward with new games.
“So when we increase in size to do more projects, what we find is that Sony wants to do a PSP version [of Buzz!] or another PS2 version, so a lot of people have been soaked up in that but there are other games that we’re working on.”
Platforms?
“We continue to work closely with Sony,” said Amor.
The exec was speaking ahead of Brighton’s Develop conference, which kicks off with a Ken Levine keynote tomorrow morning.
