Nintendo may announce Wii U release date during press event on September 13
Nintendo will host a Wii U press event in New York City on September 13. The event is to be presented by Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime, with select media outlets today receiving invitations. The press event promises to reveal “more about how the Wii U will change the future of gaming and entertainment.” The last time Reggie hosted a press event in NYC was to announced the release date of 3DS, which was back in January 2011. Before that, the NYC venue was the Wii launch event. Still, we won’t know whether Nintendo will announce the release date for Wii U or not until the event occurs. eShop offerings to include titles such as Epic Mickey, New Super Mario 2
In an investor presentation, NOA president Reggie Fils-Aime noted some of the titles coming digitally to 3DS via the eShop. According to Reggie: ” We’ve got a massive list of AAA content on the way from all of the biggest names in gaming that are all proven franchises, all exclusive to our platform, and all coming to stores both in physical and digital formats in the second half of 2012.” Games listed on the slide are: Castlevania: Lords of Shadow – Mirror of Fate, Epic Mickey: Power of Illusion, Kingdom Hearts 3D, Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon, New Super Mario Bros. 2, Paper Mario: Sticker Star, and Scribblenauts Unlimited.
