Sniper Elite 3 developer Rebellion has discussed the game’s North Africa setting with VG247, and has explained why it will allow for a free-form sandbox approach to situations, much like its predecessors. This time however, the locales will be even bigger thanks to the game’s next-gen clout.

Sniper Elite spin-off Nazi Zombie Army will launch on Steam tonight, courtesy of developer Rebellion. The co-op shooter has also received a launch trailer.

Rebellion co-founder Jason Kingsley has said on Twitter the team would like to work on Evil Genius 2. According to various exchanges between Kingsley and fans, the game is on “the shortest of shortlists,” and all that’s stopping it is funding. More news on how likely such a project will be should be revealed “within a few months.” Evil Genius was released in 2004 and a sequel was in the works at Elixir Studios before it was shuttered in 2005 and Rebellion acquired the IP. Rebellion has released another teaser trailer for its new, unannounced title. The stand-alone title will debut on February 14, and according to the firm, “PC fans will soon be able to experience what awaits those brave enough to venture into the dark dominion of the ‘Totraum’, the dead space.”

Sniper Elite V2 is heading to Wii U in May, if listings by Amazon and GameStop are any indication. Amazon has the title releasing on May 21 and GameStop has it down for May 24. Eurogamer notes the dates appear to be the US and UK releases, respectively. Rebellion and 505 Games were unavailable for comment on the matter.

Sniper Elite V2′s free multiplayer expansion was released today, and Rebellion has released a set of screenshots to accompany the mode. Released alongside the multiplayer, was the previously announced weapons pack DLC for use on and offline, and features the US M1 Carbine with an improved rate of fire and high ammo count. It also comes with the German MP44 and the British made Webley Mk6 Revolver. All three weapons are available as a single download priced at 240 Microsoft points or £3.19 through PSN. Sniper Elite V2 will receive multiplayer support on consoles, 505 Games and Rebellion have announced. The multiplayer DLC will be made available later this year on PS3 and Xbox 360, and will include Team Deathmatch, Deathmatch, Team Distance King, and Distance King modes. Multiplayer is already available in the PC version. Some screenshots are below.

Oxford developer Rebellion, best known for Sniper Elite and Alien vs Predator, has filed suit against Stardock and Ironclad, claiming trademark infringement. Gamasutra reports the crux of the matter is the new Sins of a Solar Empire expansion, which also rejoices in the name of Rebellion. Don’t go firing off angry letters just yet; as we learned in the Bethesda vs Mojang case, trademark holders are forced to engage in these kinds of battles or risk losing trademarks, and it may all be settled amicably. SoaSE: Rebellion released in June and has garnered positive reviews.
